Didn't really want to start a new thread, so I'll hop in here. (Hopefully he's got enough info for it not to be a hijack)

Currently also looking to buy a 670. Upgrading from a 6950. I'll be using dual 1440p monitors, one for gaming and the other will just have skype or whatever open as I game. I do plan to do a lot of skyrim (and oblivion!) modding, so I was concerned with the VRAM usage.

Seem 4GB options are pretty limited, so it looks like I'd go for a EVGA 4GB SC with the backplate if I were going to get one of those. However, would I be fine with a 2GB card? I've never really used SLI before, so if I bought another one in the future would it be a better choice than grabbing one 4GB, especially at 1440p? If so, which 2GB card should I go for for now? The FTW?

Yeah, I'm a bit of a newb at SLI. tongue.gif

Be my guest, I haven't made up my mind yet, so the more responses the better. Besides, now I'm contemplating a 1440p monitor instead of the 1200p, so any input you get will help me also.

I would make the jump to 4gb if you are going past 1200p. 4gb would also make more sense if you plan to add another card in sli.

So a 1440p monitor would require more VRAM in order to max games?
Yes, it would require more RAM, as there's 40% more going on at your screen at the same time. I'm thinking 2Gb would PROBABLY be enough, but I'd also appreciate it if someone with more insight on this matter could share his/her experience.

I'm also planning to get a 670, as my 470's (zalman fv3000 coolers) get really toasty, even with only a mild OC.. I've been looking at the Gigabyte with the 3 fans, but I'm slowly beginning to think the EVGA might be the better choice here. But the question is.. 2GB or 4GB?

My brother bought the gigabyte, but 7970, and he is amazed at how cool and quiet it is, so I can only imagine that a 670 would be even better in terms of heat/noise? Come to think about it, I really don't know if I should change my monitor or not, I know I'm probably missing a lot at 1080p in a 22" monitor, but I can't complain. Maybe I should just get a 670 FTW, and see what happens next year.

To be honest I would go for the MSI 670pe the clocks are nice & if you want to oc in the future you will be very happy with the reults of this card.. ., I am not a big fan of Evga anymore due to the changes they have made with warranty and step up ect. I am also very disappointed in the 680 classified.I was an Evga customer for 7 years but will not continue to do business with them. Although I will say their CS is top of the line.

I love the TF coolers MSI offers , they really keep the cards cool. After all I would rather my cards that are running hot be cooled by air from outside the case then air on the case already. I've had no problem going SLI with MSI cards . My CPU temps are also low even though the cards exhaust air back in the case. Jus my opinion though

This card is amazing, I got 100 points more in 3DMark11 and with stock CPU speeds compared to my GTX570 SLI and my CPU OCd to 5GHz. I'm amazed to the performance of this card.
