Skyrim PC beginner

Thread Starter
Hey everyone, I bought Skyrim on Saturday in the Steam Summer Sale as it was going for a bargain that I couldn't resist biggrin.gif, but I haven't played it yet because I'm waiting for my GTX 560 Ti to be delivered back to me (hopefully a new one) as I've had to send it off for the SECOND TIME as Gigabyte didn't fix whatever's wrong with it the first time -.- (should arrive tomorrow) Also, I've decided to hold out from playing it on an 8800 gts (what I'm currently running) because it won't look that great and I don't mind waiting smile.gif. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any advice to start the game off because I have it on Xbox but I only really played it when my mates came round and I wasn't really sure what I was doing XD so basically I'm still a beginner. Now however I want to get into the game because I know it's a great game for PC but like I said, I haven't really got the 'gist' of it, so if you have any suggestions on how to start the game off and if there's any good tweaks to be used, let me know. biggrin.gif

Thanks for reading and I will read all comments as I appreciate them thumb.gif

There is honestly no wrong to play it. Once you get to a town the story and events will start to unfold. As they will give you stuff to do and missions to carry out. The great thing about the game is no two people will play it the same. There is just so many things to do and ways to carry out the missions and task. Just explore and play and have fun. You could grab a walk through or a map and use that to look everything over if needed though. Thanks

there are plenty of good mods you can use through the steam workshop. I don't remember exactly what ones I'm running but there are several that make mining/smithing much more beneficial/ productive that I use. I've only had time to play maybe 70 hrs but I still haven't finished the main quest line because there is so much else to do.

The main quest is very straightforward, but it's the wilderness of Skyrim that really takes a long time to conquer. I have only just finished the main quest line at 17hrs of gameplay and I'm sure there's plenty more to do.

I've been a avid fan of Elder Scrolls games since Morrowind came out,and i still remember how hard it was for me to grasp all the modding thing about this game, even tough most of the mods were simple to install, there were some complex stuff for a newbie to this game series, and trust me,that's the best thing IMHO about this games,it's modding ability and the entire community that was borned with it.
Now with Skyrim, modding is way simpler that it was back then, and while i must admit that Steam workshop might look simpler to a newcomer,i would recommend the Nexus comunity, skyrim.nexusmods.com
Specifically for you to get a grasp of things, theres a good guide here STEP - Skyrim Total Enhancement Project ,wich is essencially a guide, step by step to install loads of mods to your game, wichever ones you choose to do so.
Have fun either you want to go modding or not smile.gif

Note that it takes roughly 46 minutes to walk from the east of the map to the west.. thumb.gif 334hrs played and I finished the main quest a couple of weeks ago. The rest is mostly exploring and modding. biggrin.gif
