$5000 budget - Page 5

I would suggest buying this case if it fits in with the budget:

Yeah it's expensive as hell, but it's a great looking case. And one of a kind.

He will definately be better off with an intel at the moment and it looks like it for the future also because of c2d (conroe) and kentsfield. An overclocked E6300 ($183 c2d) will even beat the fx-62 in most tests, only overclocked on air.

but you forget one thing that AMD beats intel in right now. The name AMD sounds sooooo much cooler than Intel, just the way it rolls off of your tounge and everything.... :turd:

Yes there are dual transformers in some of the decent PSU's. But now I have a question: Why do they state 17a per rail and total 41a for 3x17? That makes no sense to me, could you explain?

OK i forgot about the rest of the system in my amp ratings. And I looked it up a bit wrong. My fault entirely - I was in a bit of a rush. Using my weird and often incorrect logic, it would make 2 cards 30a possibly? Any other ideas? One of these days I'm going to get an Ammeter and check this stuff for myself...

I think I read somewhere a 26a 12v PSU was reccomended for one card... I'll see if I can find the proof. So take 11a or so for the system (is that a realistic figure?) then the card is 15a? 2x15 = 30a?

It'll all just speculation anyway.

It still proves that there are PSU's to cope with 2 graphics cards though, regardless of a few here and there I made a mistake with.

I also find the 450w reccomendation a bit odd - which is why I disagree that some monster PSU is going to be needed just for another card.

Hey, I didn't have time to read through all of these posts so if my post is irrelivent please ignore my post.

Firstly, I think that you should approach your customer and ask if he or she has the ability to maintain a wc system and knows what to do when such and such happens like a pump failure or something like that and is willing to deal with it. If not, I would just go with some aircooling and stack the case with deltas and soundproofing.

Secondly, I would wait 1 month, since you have 2 months to make the build to see if anything newer comes out such as the new 8800 I saw someone mention in an earlier post.

Lastly, if you are feeling snazzing and are good with a drummel, have you considered modding a server case and making it look all awsome-like?
