$5000 budget - Page 6

does anyone else smell that aweful stench.... it's terrible, but very familiar.... I can't quite put my finger on it...

o wait that's right... what kind of "kid" has $5500 to spend on a computer? Especially one that barely knows how to use one...

Got to go with a new quad core QX6700, SLI 8800GTX, 4 Raptors. However, make sure you have a really nice case, PSU, monitor, ect. Someone who puts out $5000 isn't going to want to have problems with their monitor or PSU...

Listen to chozart, he is god.

I would get the bigass apple monitor as with chozarts build, he does not know much about computers so to have the giant screen would look so much better than even more overly wasted priced goods as with a bigger screen would really make the difference,

One rig now for $2500 or so.

Drop $1000 on SLI when DX10 comes mainstream.

$500 or so for games, game controllers, joysticks if you use 'em, a pet llama, some "eye candy" for your rig, or whatever.

Then take the rest and buy your mom something. It'll make you happy.

Or, you know, drop it on two 1680x1050 monitors.

SCSI RAID d00d

If I had $5000 I'd build some kind of dual-Xeon workstation with sick graphics cards and tons of RAM. As much as I love AMD, they aren't going to have anything as good as Intel until the launch of K8L.

a kid saying that he's getting paid 500 alone to build a computer is talking out of his poop chute.

how many of us here, that have had years of experience, has put together computers for more than 100 bucks?
