Hi, I have built my computer but am having major problems with it hard locking. This happens anywhere from 5-45 minutes after boot. I have tried quite a bit of troubleshooting, including several OS reinstalls across two hard drives, switching RAM slots, disabling onboard sound, changing memory timings, and a whole lot more. It just keeps happening no matter what I do. I've already updated everything I could. This is extremely frustrating, as I need this as a budget gaming rig, and I don't have the money to replace too much. I am beginning to suspect my motherboard, but it may also be several other things, including my ancient graphics card. Here are my system specs:
Everything I've seen so far points towards the onboard Realtek audio, but nothing I have tried has worked. I am really hoping that it is my graphics card at this point, seeing as I am already going to replace it within the month. If anyone knows anything about this, please tell me. Any help would be appreciate.
- ASrock 770 Extreme 3 Motherboard
- AMD Athlon II x4 640
- PNY GeForce 8400GS 256mb (Going to be replaced w/ HD 7770 as soon as I get more $)
- Corsair Vengeance 1x4Gb RAM
- Rosewill HIVE 750W PSU
- MSI Raptor Case
- Windows 7 Ultimate
