UPS

Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a UPS and I'd like to know how low VA/wattage I can go. My house experiences power flicker too often (just shuts off for a second then back on). So I'm not looking at getting something that can keep my computer powered for a half hour or so, I really only need 30 seconds or really just enough to keep the comp from shutting off. Lets say my computer pulls 500 watts (probably around that) can I get away with a small 200 watt UPS that will just last for a short while? Or will that simply not power it at all and I need 500 watts plus? Not sure how that works. Thanks in advance.

For a 500 Watt System I would suggest at least a 1000 VA UPS.

It will give you enough time to save everything, and log off without rushing.

Thanks but I'm not interested in buying a high end one to give me more time if it isn't necessary. The only purpose I want it for is to keep my computer from shutting down during the frequent (least a few times a month) power flickers (brown outs I think they're called).
So with just that purpose in mind will a small UPS even run the system for a few seconds at all or will it simply not power it if the wattage isn't high enough? Hope that made sense smile.gif
