CM Storm Sentinel Advance II

Thread Starter
Thoughts? I am looking at this as a possible replacement for my dead G400. I am tempted to stay with the G400 now that angle snapping has been removed, but I have used the G400 shape since the release of the MX510, and ONLY that, so I've basicly used the same mouse for like 7-8 years! I am open to new experiences. smile.gif

So, tell me whats horrible about the CM Storm Sentinel Advance II. Acceleration? Angle snapping? Poor hardware? I play and use my mice only at 400dpi (800 DPI if I'm feeling quick biggrin.gif) so keep that in mind.

On a side note, how are the Intellimouse 3.0s these days? I'm using one a few years old, and its only con is deceleration on quick swipes, which is a deal killer for a low-sens gamer.

Well, nobody has responded to you and I think that sucks.

I have the original Sentinel. I still use it, although I'm now looking for a new mouse just because I want to try something different.
The Sentinel's physical design hasn't changed any from the original to the II. With that said it's a nice, full, palm style mouse. The thumb buttons are a little high for my liking, as I'd prefer them to be lower and closer to where my thumb sits. Also the rear thumb button (the one you'd hit with the middle of your thumb) is kind of far back for my hand, which requires me to partially lift my hand from the mouse in order to properly hit the button. The middle mouse click is pretty resistant, and I find it hard to click without scrolling the mouse wheel. I'd recommend going to Microcenter or your local store to physically try one before you buy it to make sure it fits your hand properly. I have not experienced any acceleration with the mouse, and movement is very predictable no matter how slow or fast I maneuver the mouse. I pretty much stick to a 750DPI at 6/11 sensitivity.

There's a bunch of different color combos you can assign to the 4 profiles available, including being able to use 2 different colors at the same time. Say yellow at the top where your palm would go and green at the bottom front where the cord comes out. As well as different options like "breathing" where the color pulses on and off.

The software is fairly decent, and is pretty straight forward when it comes to making and assigning macros to the buttons, changing DPI, etc.

The coating on the side of the mouse where your thumb and pinky rest is starting to peel off on mine, leaving a shiny finish underneath. It feels kind of odd now, but it took about 2 years to get to that point.

When it's all said and done, if I can't decide on a new mouse, I'll seriously consider getting the Sentinel Advance II as it's a great mouse despite it's minor (IMO) issues.

Side note - where in MI are you from? I lived there until recently when I took a new job here in the Chicago area.

I reviewed it, i found that it had some positive accel and had problems over 3000 DPI with neg accel. Having said that, it seemed less pos accel than G500, so it is a good replacement for those on the 9500 sensor if you are less than 2600 DPI.

Avoid any laser mouse, my recommendation... (no accel no path correction):
- G400
- AM
- IME 3.0 (Low tracking speed, but the best of the best)
- SPAWN (It has a little bit of prediction (skylit told me they put too much jitter correction and it causes the same effect as prediction + High LOD))
- Deathadder (High LOD)

Now from those I would personally take (with low LOD and Lightweight)
- G400
- AM
- IME 3.0

In case u refuse to get a 3.0 (It has average 1.5 - 2 m/s) -> get zowie AM
