That's a great idea. If only I hadn't been so hasty on ebay the other day doh.gif
At least the power draw was just right for the spare PSU I had lying around biggrin.gif

Next time round I'm going to go with three of those 400W peltiers on three sides with three water coolers. Wonder if I can hit 20F
But with this one I don't have to worry about anything freezing.

Since this is OCN, here's a pic of the coolers next to my rig.

The contact is the biggest issue you have between the cooler and can, as this is not refrigerant and your not cooling by atmosphere.
Maybe use this Igloo Cooler Pack which you can mold around the inside, this will act as a TIM and hold the cold for your can.

The contact between the can and the tube is close enough that a full can takes a couple of seconds to slide down to the bottom when you drop it in. Very satisfying.
And if the cooler's been running for a while the condensation on the inside of the tube kind of forms a film of water between it and your can. Not perfect, but I'll live with it.

AFAIK this is a pelt that can actually cool a soda can to a really nice temperature quicker than a fridge, unlike those USB-powered versions that use <5W.

I think using 2 400w units will be better and about ~$2 cheaper biggrin.gif

nah.. look at the comparisons, the tecs I use hands down beat those cheapy 127 couple tecs even at 12v. and are way more effecient because they have 199 couples with way less heat output and way less power draw on them with virtually the same qmax at dt=20c thumb.gif

The 400W TECs produce about 218W of Waste Heat while being able to move about 145W of Heat with a 20°C Difference.
The 694W TECs produce about 144W of Waste Heat while being able to move about 150W of Heat with a 20°C Difference.

Using the latter, you could cool even lower/faster, due to less waste heat having to be removed from the radiator.
