Just upgraded motherboard, getting error message when trying to install windows 7

I just installed an ASUS M48A9GTD PRO/USB3 motherboard and am attempting to install Windows 7. It seemed to install fine and was saying 'completing installation' for a while, then an error message popped up saying something like 'Windows failed to edit boot manager'. So I restarted, when it came back on it said I had to start the reinstall process again.

So im currently attempting the install again, but in the likelihood that it fails again does anyone know what might cause this to happen?

Did you delete all your partitions, create a new one, and format that new partition? I always do that when installing windows (skip the format part if its an ssd)

Its ok, I attempted the installation again and it worked this time, no idea what went wrong the first time. But no I didnt erase the stuff on the HDD before, its much easier to restore my files if I simply install over the old install as Windows puts everything in windows.old folder.

I would recommend sometime do a check disk outside windows to ensure you don't have any bad sectors.
