For 2200MHz - 2400MHz, 1.2-1.22v should be enough. For 2500MHz - 2700MHz., 1.22-1.25v. For 2800MHz - 3000MHz, 1.28v-1.32v.

Thats Dolk's table right? I had a look at that, but I dont think it applies to everyone/all cpus. According to that, my CPU at 3.4 or 3.5Ghz only requires 2.2Ghz NB, but 2.6Ghz brings better results in everything.

Sure is (Dolk's table) smile.gif

Yeah - I was questioning that too when in most posts I see, people overall recommend higher values for the NB frequency than what is shown there.

I'm not sure where to go from here as far as my own results are concerned.

Right now, I'm Prime95'ing this for two hours:

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2458102

Max load core temp is 50°C (55°C socket/CPU temp). NB is @ 2392MHz @ 1.22v. It's like this processor is just begging to do more than the pathetic results I've been receiving just trying to get a stable 3.4GHz.

I really do think that it's my RAM that is severely holding things back. Live and learn. At least I know next time, I'll ask around first and do my research to find out about getting into a much better set.

Finally.... thumb.gif

Nine and a half hours straight of Prime blend on the following with no issues:

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2458741

_________________________________________________________________________

The main problem I was facing were rounding errors in Prime95. Once I learned that this just means you likely need more vcore, I increased it until I stopped getting errors (in this case, 1.4v was actually the next step, but I went a little over just to be sure). After looking around and finding out that C2 stepping Phenom II X4 965's use 1.4v stock to run @ it's native 3.4GHz, I figured that was the ballpark figure for mine to run at the same frequency (also looking at Mongen's results with his native 2.8GHz 940BE needing 1.4v to run @ 3.4GHz helped to confirm this). I tried between 1.37v and 1.39v, which all returned rounding errors in Prime95.

Have more testing to do (Small FFT's & Large FFT's).

Thank you very much to everyone who's been kind enough to help smile.gif +Rep to everyone

Good to see - I see you also managed to get your NB up past 2.4 a little. Can you go one or two higher on the FSB without increasing voltage?

Either way, I'm sure you'll find 3.4Ghz fine for most things today - should still check out K10stat to keep the 3.4Ghz OC and still downclock on idle to save power and heat lol

Time to fill in your sig rig also smile.gif

Thanks Mongen smile.gif If it wasn't for you, truckerguy, PunkX, and even Gyro and Remnant stepping in to help, I probably would've given up on it days ago. But I learned a lot about this motherboard, processor, and even my (mediocre) RAM throughout this little experiment which should hopefully prepare me for future OC attempts. I've got a Phenom II X4 910 also that I would like to try OC'ing a bit too in the near future.

Thanks for the K10Stat recommendation. I'll have to look into that. I thought that I would just leave the OC profile saved in my bios for whenever I need the extra bump in performance (like when I know I'll be sitting down to a gaming session), then keeping another stock profile (with CnQ and all that stuff enabled) when I don't need it. But if K10Stat will allow me to change frequencies based upon load or switch profiles on the fly from within the OS, it'll save the minor inconvenience of needing to reboot to load the gaming profile if I decide I want to jump into - say Battlefield 3 - after using the computer for normal tasks.

Next, I think I am going to try a minor bump to the FSB to go for the 3.5GHzCPU/2500MHzNB/1333MHzRAM config, as I think I'm slightly over in voltage than what I need to run what I am currently. Should give me enough headroom to get that to stick without needing to increase voltages any more. I'll definitely post back if I get it stable. Otherwise, if it doesn't hold and I find I need a substantial increase in voltages to get it to stick, I'd be happy with just knowing these settings will work.

Thanks again, Mongen! smile.gif

Can anyone recommend some good (free) benchmarking utilities to conduct some testing/comparisons?

I'm downloading 3DMark11 and Cinebench atm.
