Max PSU wattage needed for this build? - Page 2

There are plenty of psu out there that are 80+ bronze certified for around $50. I wanted to know exactly how much watts I would need, and some suggestions for psu around that price range
post #12 of 23
well, a 6850 and an i5 3570k dont really pull alot of watts. if it was a gtx 480 and a phenom ii thuban, that would be a different story, but your build doesnt need alot of power. i would still get a 500W psu, and make sure it is a good one. $50 psu's arent alot of money. besides it seems you spent alot of money on the system, would you want it to get ruined from a bad psu?

The 450W Rosewill Capstone posted earlier is the cheapest I would try with that level of hardware.

The 450W Rosewill Capstone posted earlier is the cheapest I would try with that level of hardware.

The gpu takes like 125w to run, cpu will be 100w max. 50w for the components.

You don't need a 450w unit, just has to be a quality one.

I'm getting mixed responses...can someone tell me how much wattage my build will pull at max load? Or redirect me to a website that will let me figure it out?
An overloaded earthwatts wouldn't fry anything... This isn't diablotek we're talking about. He would be perfectly fine with a 380w earthwatts or the 430w seasonic. Cpu is 100w with a healthy oc, gpu 150w, rest of the sytem is fairly negligible. He will never even pull 380w from the wall.

Seriously you'll only pull 250w max, maybe a tink more if you are an extreme OC'er.

Definately under 300w max for whatever you're doing with your pc overclocking wise.

The answer is ~305w with high CPU/GPU OC's in a fairly strenuous game like BF3 and ~410w max in a completely unrealistic scenario like furmark accompanied by prime95 running simultaneously.

The aforementioned recommendations for the EA380D & The MK III 500 and anything in-between are good recommendations.
