The GTX 680/670 Unlocked Voltage Discussion Thread - Page 14

I tested the bios mrtooshort gave me a few pages back
1 its 3d voltage is 1.238 and stock is 1.204,same 2d .99, low power 3d went from 1.10 to 1.124.
2 You can push it up to your cooling its not flakey after 1.42v like stock dcii oc bios was for me.
3 power limits slider is lowered to 132 but it makes no differance its bioshas made changes somewhere to limit what it sees(saves mod to do this)
4 It STILL has cb issues -32c it will cycle its low power 3d voltages and 3d voltages if too cold durnig a benchmark(if your here its not all bad just let it run till it warms up some)and frames go up and down also so its useless to bench like that.
cbb @-40c partys over.
not sure if going colder will help since i only test dice

Anyone else test thier card cold ?

I dont know if it works with ASUS....I only know that works with GB...I guess they both are very good overclockers but its more a question of luck than any other thing.
Do you think it would work mate? I read somewhere if the card have same back port , likely will be able to flash the card. And Gigabyte GTX 670 and Asus do have same back port, but of course both different custom pcb.

I'm new to BIOS flashing, but it's quite easy on these cards. Have a question though- There's nothing that can go majorly wrong with flashing the wrong BIOS to a card right? I mean, assuming there's nothing wrong with the BIOS in the first place and it's just a question of compatibility. Just wondering because I see a lot of people asking about ones that work fine on other cards, and since it only takes less than a minute to flash, I was just curious why everyone doesn't just 'give it a shot' if no harm can be done, or can it?

I dont know but I have flashed my windforce 680 to many different bios's and have not hurt a thing, I even tried the lightning ln2 bios which is definently unsupported, lol.

If you flash the wrong bios to a card & the card doesn't work, you need a second gpu around to be able to see anything on the monitor to be able to fix the bad flash on the other card. Fine if you have a 2nd gpu, but many don't & a bad flash would suck on your only card.
Blind flashing can work but would be pretty tricky to flash a card when you have nothing on the monitor to see what you are doing.

Testing on 4 680 classifieds

Summary:
All voltages done with evbot and read from evbot itself.
All testing done in heaven other than one test in bf3 multiplayer at high clocks.

all cards memory seemed stable up till plus 650 memory I did not test higher and I had gains with each increase on each card and did not have crashes nor did I notice artifacts

2 cards topped out around the 1380- 1400 range

2 cards got in the 1415 - 1430 range

temps were always in the 50’s and low 60’s max temp period was around 64

max fan speed was used which for this card is 55%

2 cards had some jumping around of clocks at high overclocks (non temp throttling, two did not have this issue at all)

those same 2 cards which throttled ALWAYS from stock to overvolt showed the voltage jumping between 1.175v and 1.168v in afterburners on screen display whether or not evbot was used … the other two cards with no throttling did not do this at all and stayed at 1.175v being displayed at all times

max power target WAS a factor at higher overclocks and that needs to be addressed

all cards tested individually , no sli tests are reported here

Questions:

Why did two cards have fluctuating reported voltage and two did not?
Why did those same cards report fluctuating core speeds? are those things related?
Could the BIOS’s be different? cards are from same batch
Thoughts, ideas?

testing:

Card 1

base boost 1215

around plus 70 (1286)

around plus 110 (1325) 1.21v evbot

around plus 140 (1355) 1.26v evbot

around plus 170 (1385) 1.31v evbot

around plis 180 (1395) 1.318v evbot LN2 BIOS

around plus 185 (1401) 1.325v evbot ln2 BIOS

memory stable up till at least 650mhz
around 1400mhz core and around plus 500 memory

1380 and 500 should be a good conservative number
1385 and 500 gave 56.3 fps and 1419 score smile.gif

Card 2

base boost 1189

around plus

plus 110 (1305)

tested till plus 145 1335 1.218v (if stable test more tomorrow)
plus 190 1380 1.268v

tested 1413 plus 225 1.13125v (plus 230 next 1418)
same at 1.318v
same 1.325
card occasionally has green artifacts and or brown screens with voltage changes ... restarts fix this (but did not happen on first card

memory
tested up to plus 600 stopped there for time and for leveling off of improvement

tests with heaven:
1385 plus 400 1402 55.9
1385 plus 500 1422 56.5
1385 plus 550 1433 56.9
1385 plus 600 1443 57.3
1397 boost occasional drops to 1372 625 mem 1449 57.5 1.30v LN2 BIOS

1400 plus 500

Card 3

1202 stock boost

plus 110 1312mhz 1.175v

plus 155 1357mhz1.218v

plus 190 1392mhz 1.268v

plus 215 1418 1.13125v (plus 220 1424 was stable for almost an hour but crashed)

plus 230 1432 1.318v

1.325v same

memory tested up to plus 650

1402 500 1.3v 56.7 1427

1411 500 1.312v 57 1436

1411 550 1.132v 57.3 1443

1411 600 1.132v 57.98 1455

1411 650 1.132v 58 1462
SUPER STABLE !!!! NO QUIRKS!

Card 4

boost 1189

plus 95 12851.175v

plus 140 1329 1.218v

165 1355 1.268v

185 1375 - 1399 1.31v
same or 190 1.38
same 1.325

plus 175 1377 plus 600 1.29v 56.9fps 1433 score BF3 stable

Only thing I hate about EV Bot is the fact that it doesn't do offset voltages. If you enter a voltage, it does that even at idle as well (normally, idle is 324mhz at .95V)

Sick results though for sure supermi. You're about to take the lead in the OCN 3dmark11 and heaven benchies thumb.gif

And I have such bad luck with 2 different cards at even 1.4v+ not hitting more than ~25mhz more and no where near 1400mhz? And he was on air with similar temps headscratch.gif If they didn't throttle and have the rediculously low Power % limit I'd be all over the Classified
