Yea the new R is a monster, it doesn't stop pulling.

The seat cover is black on the top, with red on the side so should go well with the rest of the bike smile.gif.

Did we ever get to see the 2500k results? did I miss them or is this still ongoing?

But really wooow guys......I've been looking through this and other hightech TEC builds and while I congratulate you on your work and commitment and hate to be the fly in the ointment I'm none the less left with the overwhelming impression you need to speak to DES....not a person but an acronym

D.......direct
E.......efficient
S.......simple

Seriously the answer to problems is not to throw $ and increasing levels of complexity at it.....if you have to then you probably need to go back to the drawing board and rethink the original premiss. I dread to think of the reliability issues some of these multi stage builds requiring intricate control mechanisms could have.....equal or better results can be obtained much more simply.

Now go and give DES an nice big KISS (keep it simple stupid).....he's been missing you wink.gif

TECs are neither efficient nor simple, so "DES" doesn't really apply.

You need to cool multiple HUNDREDS of watts(processor output plus each TECs output) so need many radiators. You need to prevent condensation, so need a controller and/or lots of insulation. You need multiple loops for a chiller, so need at minimum dual pumps. They suck tons of watts, so you need a second PSU...and tons of amps, so you can't use a plain old 4-pin Molex.

It's not as simple as gluing a TEC to the bottom of your waterblock and splicing it to a molex.

That being said, how would *you* do a TEC setup? smile.gif

Yeah I appreciate the hurdles...nay....mountains you have to jump to use tec's.....and tbh you can't be anything but impressed by the way these guys have overcome them.....real technical/engineering prowess.

So how would I do a tec setup?

Think I would take the advise of my mate DES

I guess DES doesn't think tec's are a particularly good premiss in the first place considering all the expense and complexity required just to cool one component of a multi component system and then only hope to get at or around "dew point" temps on that component.

DES takes a more holistic approach and thinks that if you are going to those extremes to cool the pc then the whole pc should benefit. He also thinks to be limited by dew point after all that trouble is wasteful.

So in the unlikely event that DES did decide to use tec's he would probably use them as an addition to a sealed chill box build so dew point wouldn't be a consideration and the chill box sub zero temps could easily cool the tec's either via air or water......he may even submerge them in liquified refrigerant gas.... but then again DES being quite a shrewd guy would probably think that the heat load they would add to the system would not be worth the little benefit......and just use a more simple reliable and efficient method......wink.gif

Hmmmm ! Two GTX 460's will draw 26 - 30 amps at max but overclocked can draw in the neighborhood of 35 - 40 amps which equates to 450 watt range. Does not sound that eff. to me, My XFX Black Edition will kick it to the curb using a lot less power. I could even add a Tec into the equation and still not exceed your current draw. Like Puck said we do not profess to be eff. but what we can achieve is constant cold or sub-zero temps. It is life and reality there is no gain without pain. Take care and try to ask nicely next time, we are happy to answer questions but some of us old grouches (ME) would rather not hear from naysayers. LOL smile.gif

smile.gif lol...not having a go at you in particular gdesmo.....think your build looks and is fantastic.

When DES talks about efficiency he's not talking about component efficiency.....hell we can all improve that by upgrading.....he's not even talking about cooling system efficiency, he really doesn't care about his power bill provided he hits the temps he wants, no he's more concerned that the cooling method performs well and gives the best possible temp drop.

At the moment DES is a little upset as he is using air cooling in his chill box and that doesn't perform as well as a chilled water loop and so is considering other methods the cooling performance of which will be even better than water and be even simpler......that's my mate DES for you always looking to improve things in the most direct efficient and simple way.

DES is a bit different to you though gdesmo he always welcomes "naysayers" .....he thinks they help him to re evaluate and take a broader view.....hell we can all do with standing back sometimes.

I'm looking forward to seeing DES again soon, he's coming around for my 51st birthday in a few months time....darn....I've let my age out....now you can see that I too am old...but perhaps not so grouchy...smile.gif

Kind of strange talking in 2nd person but that's OK, your alter ego should be reassured that with some overkill rads and good selection of Tec modules with correct voltages you should be able to hit whatever temp you wish. I`m sorry but I see so many people saying negative things in all these forums that I refuse to post in them even if I can help them in some way. Please ask questions, the people here are knowledgeable and friendly for the most part ( except when I have not had enough coffee- caffeine addict ) LOL biggrin.gif

Yeah as you might of guessed by now I'm only kidding around....biggrin.gif...it's the first time I've read through the "tec" section and it just struck me that effort required to run these things is bordering on the absurd......but if that's your bag then go for it......you are doing a fantastic build.

I'm planning a revamp of my chill box build.....that's more my thing.....but your more than welcome to pop across and pick holes...lol thumb.gif

PS I came here originally to see how the temps on the oced 2500k compared with my build....but I guess they are still working on it as I didn't find the results yet?
