might be a bad analogy but is it like saying "i dont need a 450 hp car, its 200 more hp than i need"

Why do people talk about too high dpi? I am a low dpi and lower sensitivity user. I use 400 dpi, 6/11, 3.7 sensitivity in game (cs 1.6, css, tf2). It takes 30cm~ to do a 360. If I were to use 8200 dpi; I will need to set sensitivity to 0.04878, and in every other game with bad mouse sensitivity setting, I will be unable to play. I don't hate high dpi mouse, so as long as there is an option to set it lower. Too often lower still mean in the thousands.

Because not everyone is Tim Taylor.

No one NEEDS a 100+ hp car, no one NEEDS a 800+dpi mouse, they're preferences.

true true, nobody needs a high dpi mouse, its preference, but i meant when people are calling high dpi a gimmick etc, i dont really think its a gimmick. tim taylor?

anyways,

if there was multi color lighting like ther other new razer mice, i would insta buy this, a perfect replacement to my mamba 2012. im glad this takes any AAA battery unlike the proprietary mamba one

Because DPI is a preferance. I personally use 400DPI. Thus this mouse has 7800 more DPI then I need. Your personal anecdote doesn't change my needs.

Its more like: I have better control in this 60km/h car then in the 300km/h car, so I choose the 60km/h car.

lol it wasnt intended to change your needs tongue.gif and im fine with your preference, like i said, the comment was more directed at people who say high dpi is useless/gimmick, which it isnt im assuming, as it allows faster, albiet less precise movement, but ive gotten alot more precise over 1-2 days when switching to high dpi, i just had to get through 2 days of getting used to

Typically higher CPI on CMOS based sensors isn't as precise many would think. Sensor is being stressed to its limits when polled high therefore general cursor accuracy is even worse than what a standard 1k DPI office mouse can produce.

With these new sensors, the manufacture (not Razer) has added a smoothing curve to basically fake precision even at the highest step. Tbh, I think its just a cheap excuse to avoid having to actually inovotate, but I guess I have to put blame on the mindless sheep that think a larger number is always better without general reasoning.

Thats not to say that promoting of using lower CPI is any better. Depends on the hardware quality and configuration.

This has made the decision to buy a R.A.T. not a done deal, now. I have used Razer mice for years, and I love them. I've used a Copperhead, Diamondback, Deathadder, and Abyssus.

Looks like I found my next mouse. Rep+ for bringing it to my attention, OP. thumb.gif

Too expensive for me.
Would love a rugged, size-adjustable, 5-button right-handed mouse priced at around $50 (or under).
I'll be very happy with 800-1600dpi.

can someone give a reason why to buy this over a much better looking RAT7 Contagion?

edit: i see its wireless, then why this over the RAT9?
