You're right, I should never rely on some ******** in a hospital to care for my health.
I should grow all my own food, never rely on someone more knowledgeable to do it for me.
I should build all the roads I'll ever need, because relying on someone else to do it would make me subservient.

You're so far lost in your own delusions it's absolutely disgusting.

Right, because roads and produce need to be built and grown for each individual. Give me a break. Roads and bridges and whatever else are built for the public good using tax dollars that the people contribute. Nobody ever said that there should be no taxes. Just that taxes collected to pay for the entire subsistence of a lay-about are unnecessary and harmful.

What do all of the major national parks demand of their patrons? Do NOT feed the animals? Why? They need food and there are plenty of people willing to give them it. The problem is that if these animals become dependent on these handouts they will be unable to take care of themselves in the lean times. That is exactly what is wrong with big government programs. We are constantly teaching the lower classes that they no longer need to be responsible for themselves because daddy (the government) will take care of them. This invites fraud and all manner of impropriety to take place. Meanwhile the people who did everything right and worked their butts off get the shaft. How in the hell is that fair?

All anybody needs to do is truly read and comprehend our constitution. It is still to this day the greatest piece of legislation ever conceived by man. Limited central government and a belief in the freedom and responsibility of each individual citizen. No safety net, no fallback position. Make it on your own skills/talents/intelligence or don't. If you lack the abilities to fend for yourself then too bad, you lose (legitimate cases of disability are accepted)....

They had their hard earned cash stolen from them so that you could have your surgery. Whatever happened to personal responsibility in this world? Freedom has inherent obligations, one of those being that you are also responsible for your own life. You shouldn't rely on the labor of others to take care of your personal needs. Get a job and provide for your own medical care.
Where does this nanny-state stop???? People need food so obviously the government ought to provide that for you. People need a home so obviously the government should provide that for you. If you are fine with the government taking care of your every need from cradle to grave then there really is no need to argue with you any further. Some of us (the successful ones) are more than willing to take responsibility for our own lives in exchange for the freedom to do as we wish. It's too bad that there are so many people out there that depend on somebody else to take care of them.....

ohhh, youre part of those people who think taxes are a form of government robbery

taxes fund the police, the schools, the roads, the regulatory agencies. thats okay, but if taxes fund healthcare, thats *gasp* communism

we have the police to serve and protect individuals of the public in cases of emergency, but when government healthcare is there to serve and protect the public's health and livelihood, then too bad for those individuals of the public who are sick or dying. it dosnt even need to be government healthcare, but we need a healthcare system whose priority is, well, healthcare, not lining the pockets of investors and CEO's with money

youre right, the government shouldnt have to take care of you, pay for your own medical bills, pay for your own protection, pay for your own k-12 education, pay for your own roads, pay for your own parks, if you get hurt or sick and can't afford it, you should die, we as a society aren't obliged to take care of you

screw welfare recipients, they are whats wrong with america, they become dependent on government handouts, they will just be lazy and be content in living in poor areas and they wont get a job and try to leave the ghetto, because people like living in poor areas and being lower class, welfare is screwing with our deficit even though welfare is less then 1% of our national budget

Without even taking Social Security into account, your "less then 1$ of the national budget" looks awfully big. Try something more to the tune of at least 37.11% of the budget. Hmm.

Nobody's going to mention the $1,000,000,000,000 "defense" budget? Anyone?

Oh but cutting the defense budget would be madness, we need to keep a strong military presence across the entire globe in case some brownskinned turrurists get jealous of our freedums and try to attack us!!11!1! Raise taxes to fund this? Nah that's socialist, we'll just borrow it all from China!

social security isnt welfare, we pay into it

and im talking about ADFC (now TANF), WIC & SNAP, youre grouping welfare with "mandatory spending" and other things that aren't directed at the poor

You should find out how many of those slaves where slaves before being sold as slaves.
America's transformation happened in the late 1800s when slavery was illegal.

Social Security , Medicare, and other liabilities add to over $60+ trillion

How about we all just chill out. I doubt anyone is going to change their mind by you all arguing. If anything, arguing will just make them close off their mind to other opinions. There's a reason that politics are kept off OCN.

On topic: Meh. Sales tax isn't THAT bad, unless you're buying ridiculously expensive stuff, in which case 8-10% shouldn't bother you that much.
