What's the diff between these Crucial M4 256 SSD's?

I'm trying to decide on a Crucial M4 256Gb SSD, but there's like 5 different ones, and they all appear to be nearly identical...which one is the best for my motherboard? My mobo supports up to SATA 3GB.

You get the first one. The last 2 have different dimension i think for some laptops which cant fit full size 2.5.

Actually, the last two are 7mm which is thinner. At least that's the order they're in when I'm viewing it.
I absolutely HATE how the second one isn't metric, makes it extremely annoying to compare mad.gif

if your motherboard only supports 3gbs than it will be almost half as slow but... the 2 that are 220 (the first and the third) are best if you don't have a 2.5 inch bay on your case. if you do than go with the cheapest one
post #5 of 10
The third one (part number ends in BAA) should come with a 3.5" adapter according to Crucial's site. Get that one. Don't bother with the transfer kits, nothing you probably need.

Edit: Transfer kits come with cloning software and a USB to SATA cable, and if you don't need the bracket adapter the 7mm one for 5 bucks less would be fine, the standard ones are 9.5mm.

Why not the second one that is backward compatible with SATA 3GB?

I'm upgrading my mobo to either the ASUS Rampage III Gene Micro or the ASUS P6X58-E PRO ATX

1. Current latest model (obvious new packaging)

2. Your previous M4 model
3. Your previous M4 model with Transfer Kit (clone software)

4. Your previous M4 model 7mm
5. Your previous M4 model 7mm with Transfer Kit (clone software)

Tho I will inform you the M4 isn't the top dog of reliable SSD's anymore. The new Samsung 830 series appears to be far better then the M4 now (also way faster). I have seen at least 5% of customers ending up with dead drives in exactly 1 year time with the M4.
