99% GPU usage on ARMA II/DayZ

Thread Starter
If anyone plays ARMA II or Dayz does anyone else have this problem? Whenever I load up the game, in the menu and in the game I get 96% - 99% GPU usage, with around 20 - 30 FPS in game, with a resolution of 1600x900, and quality set to around normal for everything.

I'm not getting bottle necked by my CPU or RAM, and the GPU is the only thing reaching 99% usage.

I plan on updating the drivers after I post this, but not sure if it will fix the problem. If anyone has any other suggestions or know how to fix it, help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What GPU? is it your sig rig? ARMA2 is heavily unoptimized and takes a boatload to run. On my sig-rig I get 60 fps but it often drops to low 50s, and thats at 1600x900 (for now tongue.gif)

Check your nvidia control panel and make sure everything is set to Maximum Performance. ARMA2 is a hard game to get running at 60fps. Google arma 2 optimization and you'll find some posts on ARMAHOLIC and the BI FORUMS that outline how to edit your profilename.ARMA2PROFILE to better change options more accurately.

Happy hunting thumb.gif

In DayZ at 1920x1080 maxed out with FXAA I get about ~100fps with my 2 670s, usage sits around 75% normally and jumps to high 90s when I zoom in. Do have random drops down to 40fps sometimes though, still playable though. When playing arma2 OA single player missions though I get absolutely horrid performance! Tried to do the shooting range one and it was like a slideshow.. I hope arma3 is better optimised.
