Noob case painting help

Thread Starter
Hi I'm new to this forum and was looking to painting the inside of my CoolerMaster HAF 912 case. I have no experience in painting so I don't really know where to start. From what I've read on some other threads is I need to sand down whatever surface that will be painted, use a primer, then paint, and then a clear coat. I had a few questions I wanted to ask before I get into doing this...
First off, I just upgraded my computer with all new hardware, which is why I want to paint the inside of my case (some nice eyecandy for all this new hardware), so I want to spend as little possible.
My first question would be what is the paint of choice to use, keeping in mind I have a low budget.
Secondly, I have no idea what grit/type of sandpaper needed for this case (only painting the inside).
I also wanted to know about how long I should let it dry before putting the hardware back into the case, and lastly, I wanted to know if painting the inside of the case is in any way a fire hazard with the high temperatures inside the case, or if its flammable or anything like that... (probably a stupid question, but I have no experience in spray paint whatsoever).

Any information or tips would be a great help!

Thanks

The main two things that I learned when painting my first case. Preparation and patience go a very long way when painting.

I had alot of luck using scotch brite when prepping my surface.

You should be able to get away with any paint as long as its not stuff that costs like 20 cents a can. If you do go cheaper make sure you do a test before you use it on your case.

Also make sure to give yourself alot of time to let the case dry. I let my case dry for 5 days before I put it back together.

BTW, Welcome to OCN!

just to add on to what mxfreek said

1. prep prep prep makes perfect

2. in addition to not putting the case back together for 5 days, dont even touch any surface youve painted for at least a day to ensure you dont imprint fingerprints in the coat
