A build for someone else

Well a friend of mine is looking at getting a new comp. I am really no go at searching a full system for someone unless its myself. He is looking for a decent gaming rig at the $700 range. He likes AMD so we are sticking with that, I have explained C2D but the RAM is a bit expensive for him. We are going to need a whole system and if you can find a decent monitor to throw in thats fine preferably LCD my guess is it will be in the 15" range at this price range. Oh and the OS is taken care of so no need for that.

jmc has a good config, so unless you want to move it up to an AM2 setup use the item he suggested and sub in the MB/RAM/CPU...
MB options $73-5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138028
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138027
CPU option
the AM2 Orleans 3200+ (uses the 10x) About $75 ... the egg don't have any
RAM $124 you could save $10-15 on some lesser but good if you want.

So the AM2 config would be a few more dollars.

I dont feel as though DDR2 memory is that much more expensive than DDR1, I have been lookin at building an s939 system almost from scratch or goin with am2/conroe. Here is a S939 system if I was building for someone who doesnt want OCing, and a reliable PC:

$74.99 - Epox EP-9NPA3ULTRA
$89.99 - AMD Athlon 3700+ (and he gets a free money clip...)
$114.99 - PQI Turbo memory PQI3200-1024DBH
$55.99 - Seagate 120gb SATA 3.0 ST3120811AS
$125.99 - eVGA 7600GTS - 256-P2-N612-TX
$39.99AR - Cooler Master Centurion 5 case
$55.99 - Sunbeam NUUO 450W PSU SUNNU450-US-BK
***Edit on the case - Neweggs sonata @ is 80 w/ 450W PSU... for $80)*** as an alternative
~$30 - Any combination of CD Drive.

thats around $600 without shipping

The monitor is whatever he chooses, Id go to a bestbuy or something and see if they have a clearance or a good AR price on something like that...

I think he could squeeze into an AM2/775T system with 1gb of ddr2 PC5400 memory easy. Thats my .02, hope it was helpful. This is similiar to what I would have purchased if S939 wasnt already considered "dead" the other option is to buy my sig rig LOL.

My Epox board ran strong for 6 years without a hitch, it died when my brother spilled milk all over it... not even the best of boards can handle milk all over its capacitors... lol
