Help Installing Zalman CNPS12X

Thread Starter
I am installing the Zalman CNPS12X

using ASRock Extreme 6 and Intel Core i7 3770K.

My question is in regards to the cross bar or fulcrum plate that extends over the center of the heatsink and attaches to the clips.

The heatsink has a hole in the center in which the cross bar plugs into, however the cross bar does not seem to go all the way into the hole and make contact with the heatsink. Almost like the cross bar pivots on the pin.

I tightened the cross bar using the bolts and wrench but there still is a little play in the cooler itself. If I grab the top of the cooler and twist it does move right to left a little. In other words it is not tight.

Is this correct?

Should the cross bar go completely down into the heatsink base?

Thanks

Hey Nesh, The crossbar should go all the way down...did you use the supplied double-sided tape? maybe your washers are reversed....
let me know how it works out...cheers

I have this cooler as well, and there is just a little bit of play in the cooler, even when fully tightened down. If it moves quite a bit, then it needs to be tightened some more. Just check your temps, and they look good, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
