Hey Guys,

Looking at new monitors for a triple setup, I came across the S23A700D and it seemed like a good candidate.

Does anyone know of this monitor, how it is and such.
Also anyone knows the thickness of the bezels? Since Im going triple setup I want smallest possible tongue.gif

I've seen this model around most shopping sites and the general feedback appears to be good. It did worry me due to it's low price if something was comprimised in terms of quality and design, but so far i cannot seem to find a bad word said about it.

In terms of bezels i think the 750D models are likely much smaller, although they do use a perspex outa shell that isn't seen clearly in many photos. But in all given it's cost, lack of negative feedback i feel it's a smart choice for surround. Hopefully someone will post that actually owns the display.

Samsung 700D is the best 120hz monitor for 2D gaming and bezel is very thin..my 750D is crazy thin...and the 700D looks similar..not sure of actual difference.

From another thread:

Cream of the crop list for 1080p / 1200p gaming:

  • 23" 120hz glossy 2D gaming = S23A700D (best for 2D gaming, amazing colors, best picture quality for 120hz TN, horrible height/tilt adjustment)
  • 24" 120hz matted 2D/3D gaming = BenQ XL2420T (bigger screen, better for 3D, colors not as good, amazing height/tilt adjustment)
  • 24" 1200p IPS for gaming = U2412M

I'd pick from one of these 3 monitors for 1080p/1200p gaming...unless you want a high resolution IPS glossy Korean monitor from ebay...besides that, I would forget any other monitor on the market.

FYI - I have both 120hz (S23A750D) and IPS (HP zr24w) in dual screen mode...and it's very hard to pick a favorite...I like both of them for different reasons...see thread in my sig "Dual Screens: IPS & 120hz" for more thoughts/opinions.

Do you know how big the bezels are on your S23A750D?
Also does it have that clear plastic on the out side of the bezel like some other samsung monitors?

I don't know about the 700D...but my 750D has a clear plastic on it. The bezel is also not flat it's slightly curved out. I'm not home so I can't measure it...but it's the smallest bezel I've seen.

Yea alright, meant to say the 750D just mistyped tongue.gif

The 700D seems hard to find where I live, guess it is because it is replaced by the 750D or something like that..

Just joined these forums and noticed this thread. I have owned a S23A700D for a few months now and am very pleased with it on the whole. I mainly bought it for 120Hz gaming.

Gaming in 3D is very good. WIth the Tri-def drivers most games work without any fuss. Just launch a game from tri-def itself and away you go. Some games are better than others though. Skyrim, Bulletstorm, Driver: San Francisco and Avatar are high points. The supplied 3D glasses are comfortable, light and work well.
120Hz is really nice. There is still some minor tearing in some games but so much better than my old 60Hz LG W2361V, which was horendous and the main reason i upgraded. I used to even get tearing while wathcing youtube vids.
It's very, very light and super thin. I really like it's nice compact design. There is alot of options via the touch sensitive buttons at the bottom right of screen. 3D, colour, magic angle etc. Easy to use and work well.

However there are a few downsides. There is a little colour bleed at the bottom. Only noticable in really dark scenes in films of games but it's there. While researching before buying i found this is somewhat common.
No height adjustment or swivel. These don't bother me at all but worth mentioning. Tilt is smooth though, well much smoother than my previous monitor anyway.

Hope some of this is useful.

Just got this monitor yesterday. It is pretty nice indeed. I think it would make a great monitor for Eyefinity, the bezels are the smallest I've ever seen. The only problem your going to run into is not having enough GPU power for most newer FPS games to run at 120fps with the resolution of 3 of them.

Also note that this is a Tridef3d monitor, you will not get 3D on your GTX 580 without a lot of hacking and tweaking. You may be better off with the Asus VG276 if you care at all about 3D, however, it has considerably bigger bezels and costs more. I haven't gotten the 3d to work well, only played with it for about 30mins though. The glasses do not have a rechargeable batter either.

The stand could be better, does not have any height adjustment. With that said, I do find the monitor is too low for my taste with my setup, so I will be building/buying something to put it on.

If you end up getting these, dont be like all the other yahoos that say the touch screen controls are crap, they work amazingly well. They are designed to be used with the side of your finder as you touch the bottom of the bezel, they are not push touch buttons lol.
