Truthfully.. i find windows.... slower then before and little things seems to be... "off". Like my taskbar not loading sometimes or random "hiccups" while surfing the web. Kinda odd.
oh yeah.. i got it for 85.
That seems a little low for 6 cores. I'd try bumpnig it to 1.35v and see if those little things dont disappear. Each chip is different. Also what are you using to increase speed? multi or fsb? Memory may be a factor. Have you ran pi to test mem stability?

i know the memory is stable since it was running with my x4 unlocked at 1572 at 1.6v at 8-9-7. It's running right now at 1467 right now at 9-9-9 at 1.6v right now. Should mention that my memory is my sig isn't what i have anymore. i have patriot viper extreme memory now and i believe it's rated at 1866 at 9-12-9 i think. It never ran at 1600 with my old cpu so i'm hoping it will with the new cpu as well.

as for how i am OC'ing right now... i'm doing 220x17 (3740) right now and it is at the 14 hour hour mark of prime95 with blend. Temps look good since the socket is 47 but the cores are at 39. Truthfully, i fully expected it to crash last night. Was rather surprised getting up this morning and it was still going. Might reboot and try running it at 218 x 17.5 or 200x18 next since... from what i read... 3.8 seems to be when i require a voltage boost but.. it's suppose to be hot as hell today so i might not do it today (no AC... i'm cheap i know tongue.gif)

I've had better, more stable results when using more HTT (Ref Clock) with lower CPU multiplier on my Thuban.

I agree with hotrod, I seriously doubt 1.325 would be enough Vcore to pass 24 hr of Prime95. Just it case it does, congratulations! Just that much more reason to see what it will do.

After you find the max CPU freq (your temps may be the limiting factor) raise that NB Freq to 3000MHz. Adjust CPU/NB voltage as needed, max 1.5v same as max Vcore (1.55v). Usually most Thubans use between 1.35 and 1.4 CPU/NB @3000MHz just as a reference point. You'd definitely need to test "YOUR" system for optimum results. You'll see great performance gains even by leaving the CPU at 3.8GHz and not have to deal with much additional heat.

Adding additional CPU/NB voltage will increase temp slightly but a lot less than additional Vcore.

yeah.. i will end up upping the FSB soon enough. I'm just doing this to see how high i can go. The system instantly crashed at 3.8 at 1.325 but it's been going find at 1.35.

Truthfully.. i'm hoping for either 3-8-3.9ghz cpu and a 3ghz NB. I'm just a bit worried about my memory though.

Using fsb to bump speed will effect your memory. However you can down clock your memory from 800mhz to 667mhz in bios and give yourself a nice cushion. It will give you some different ratios and settings for overclocking. For example: if your memory is holding you up at a fsb of 218 with 1684mhz in 800, you should be able drop to 677 in bios and bump fsb to 240 and get 1676. Hope that makes sense? Also your mobo will also help determine how fast your memory can run. Couldnt get more than 1724 out of my gskill 2133 on my asrock 1866 mobo, but since swapping out for sabertooth can get 2133 out of them. Dont be afraid to bump your vcore a little bit , its not going to smoke your system if you go to 1.38 or even 1.4. They actually can go up to 1.45v and beyond with proper cooling, water, dice and nitrogen. I have a push-pull $20 air cooler that keeps my 1100T at 35C idle and 45C under moderate load. I'll post some screenies, gotta switch comps.

yeah.. i'm pretty sure i'm not going to get that. I'm not gunning for 4ghz or anything. Something i find interesting is that upping the voltage to 1.35, i noticed that my cpu socket temp went up 3 degrees (52). Though, my core temps is still showing 41c i find that is a rather large bump for 1 notch up of voltage. Is that normal for thubans?

and.. couldn't do any stability testing since there was a nasty thunderstorm that knocked out the power. Even though i have a UPS.. i figure the UPS wouldn't last that long while running prime95. It's a good thing too because the power ended up being out for about 3 hours last night lol.

I do understand what you mean, but 4.0GHz (250 x 16) is a very doable Thuban OC in most systems depending on ambient and cooling solution.
