The Hien doesn't have perfect tracking, but it is very slight in that regard, 99% of people probably won't notice it. I like the red version with hard foam or at least medium. The red lowers the DeathAdder's (3.5G/BE) LOD and raises the Zowie's LOD. Also red improves frame rates. I don't remember if it improved malfunction speed. I like the stiffer foam because I don't like my mouse to slow down if I apply to much weight on the mouse. The Hiens I have owned had imperfect foam, they had some indentations, was not acceptable. Considering the expense it is to buy the "high" quality foam versions (like I did) I would recommend the VE.
I had messaged Artisan about the foam issue and they replied. I sent them a follow up and they ignored it or they didn't notice. Not happy about this. Maybe I will send them another message.
I never used a Hayate because it only comes in black and has soft foam.
What kind of tracking problems do you get with the Hien? I had a QcK Heavy first, I liked the smooth feeling but the pad felt a bit uneven. Now I use Zowie GT-F, it works good but i miss the smooth and soft feeling from the QcK. Do you think a red Hien (soft/xsoft) will be good for me? I just want to be sure all my mice tracks well. And what´s different with "VE", it´s a bit cheaper.
