yes it shuts down the the computer pritty much as soon as it gets on to the windows home screen. And no it isnt RAM i have tried two different makes/ speed Ram

I can't be sure, but if i had to guess at the culprit component i'd say the motherboard.

The harddrive was from another pc yes. I only upgraded the motherboard, cpu, ram and case. kept everything else from my old pc. But i did do a total format of the partition i installed the OS on.
