So this is my first post on this website and I'm looking for some help with my build I'm about to get. I'm currently in Afghanistan and this is a gift to my self for when I come home. This build will be an once in a long while type of deal so I'm very picky about what I want to get. I cant tell you how many hours I've done of reading about hardware and overclocking on this site and hardocp. Ive read enough reviews to make my head explode. Ive come to the parts that I will be getting and here they are. I have an older build that Im pieceing together with new parts.
(Already Own)
Case:Antec 900
PSU: Corsair GS800 800 Watt
Typical DVD burner combo and a 1TB storage HD
(This is what im purchasing)
Video card: MSI Radeon HD7950
SSD: OCZ 256GB Vertex 4
CPU Cooling: Noctua NH-U9B SE2 CPU Cooler (With Arctic Silver 5)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD
(My idea on CPU and motherboard)
(Intel)
ASUS Intel Z77 LGA 1155 Motherboard P8Z77-V
Intel Core i5-3570K
(AMD)
ASUS DDR3 2133 AMD - AM3+ Motherboards M5A99FX PRO R2.0
AMD FX-8120 8-Core Black Edition Processor Socket AM3+
Now here is my problem, If you havent noticed I mentioned two sets of mobo and processors. The truth behind the reason I posted this in the AMD section is from what I've read, I do not feel generally happy about how realistic the Intel fans are. I see much more bashing on that end of the spectrum. I know thats a generalization, but its what Ive noticed. I am neither an Intel or AMD fan. I could care less about the bickering between the two. I care only about the best parts for my money. Like I mentioned, I wont be able to do this again for a while. However I need to make this as cost efficent as possible cause they dont pay us that well lol and it will be alot easier to avoid argueing with the wife on why I spent a grand on parts lol. The difference between the two is around 100 bucks. I care very little about benchmarks and only real world FPS gaming experiences. I just need help making up my mind. I saw many reviews on FPS for the bulldozer and was pleased. I just see so much hate and bashing it makes me nervous. Just to be clear, Ive never overclocked and I really do want to try. I plan on playing, Diablo 3, BF3, Guild wars 2, maybe some world of warcraft idk, kinda done with it. I also have Civ 5, Shogun 2, and a bunch of others. Honestly, What is my best bet? I've also been researching a ton on piledriver, but it may not be released before I come home in oct. I do not want to pay release prices cause they are never very good. Unless Im wrong on this, but I dont do maybes really well. I apperciate your help and please feel free to give advice on the other parts as well. Cost is my biggest concern. Thanks
