I'm no expert but I think not thinking.gif

I would go with a 650W PSU for an i7 + 680 just to give you a little wiggle room. Its always best to run PSU's at 50-60% load for peak effeciency. Personally I would go with something from Enermax's Platimax line. I have an 850W model and it has the most silent PSU fan I have ever "heard". thumb.gif

I don't think a 500W PSU can handly a 680 fine... It might overload it times at times....
Its not the wattage thats at fault here.500W is plent, but its just a bad PSU.It is unrealible, and has a large chance of failing, and a chance of frying.Go with Corsair,Seasonic,XFX, or antec.

The 680 has a typical gaming load of ~170w and may hit <~230w during stressing condition. So even if have an i7 platform, the Kingwin STR-500 will be able to power it, which is base on the high-end Superflower Golden King unit like the LZP-550 but fanless.

Those 10 reviewers are all full of it! Trust me, OP. I know exactly what I'm talking about. You'll need a mega-watt PSU to power that single GPU rig.

The Stryker 500 is not only a brilliant Platinum unit (still the best fanless unit on the market), but it can also function as a Gold 600W+ unit... so the answer to your question is yes, it can power two 680s on a Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge platform.

Mikeaj's suggestion makes a better choice however, it's usually slightly cheaper so it offers superior value for money.

This is a much more sensible option.. As when you're fully loading it you'll be in game usually and have headphones on or music on. AFAIK Corsiars units do this too, which is why I want to swap over to one of them eventually. biggrin.gif
