[ Work & Build Log { A Special Build>>Master Sergeant } ] A+ Black Pearl WCR Chassis Lots Of Pix...

Thread Starter
This is a build that has evolved over time, it was going to be a water cooling build, but due to funding and personal issues, it was put on hold for well over a year. But now we are back to working on this build, and it has changed to all air for cooling, there is a reason for this change and the reason being is, that we and I have no clue who will end up getting this Rig once completed. And that is why it was changed from water cooling considering this case is WCR. It is a A+ Black Pearl case and it was made with one spot to put a 220 rad with tubing holes that could be opened to run the tubing out of the case. But that was never going to used anyway, I made changes to the case to prep it for water cooling other than just the one 220 rad that would have gone in the top and over time that was scrapped but those changes that were made will be left as it is now, in the event that water cooling is going to be added later on. But this will be up to whoever becomes the owner and if they want to go that route.

This has become a very special build and it's being built for a purpose, it is my idea as well as my daughters that have had input as to the build and even helping with the build and yes that means doing a lot of the work. And as of this posting, this build will be mostly completed by them as you will see in the Videos, Yes there will be plenty of videos and plenty of Pictures posted as the build progresses, for the most part (please see sample picture below) for the paint scheme. We and yes I am open to constructive criticism, Ideas and tips that would or will help improve the build as it does evolve, and till its completion. There will be a mix videos and pictures as the build log progresses, all posts that are made in this thread will be monitored by me, but considering the work that is involved in the build and getting the pictures posted as well as getting the videos made will take a lot of effort.
This is the first time that I am documenting so much on video, so there will be a fair amount of gaffs in the videos, I’m not used to it, please excuse me for that but I will try to correct things as best I can, as for getting pictures taken that is not as big a deal, but we and I also know how to have some fun and not be completely straight lased. As you will see in the videos, I have given authorization to my daughters to post progress updates as they are needed, well once I have logged in that is smile.gif but if the mods here feel that this is inappropriate then that will be changed. Okay I think that I have babbled on enough here and it’s time to get things rolling here or something like that.

This is the first of nine videos that are already live; I try to make my best effort explain the start of the build / work Log of this case.

The theme of this case will be as you see it in the sample picture, it will be a custom and time consumming paint scheme, It will be a combination of what is in the sample picture and black.

It is called Desert MARPAT and it is considered to be a digital type of camo.

This is the We that I have referred to

This Part Two that I hope does not bore all to sleep, Like said earlier, I'm not used doing this on video and it is my first time.

This picture is just to show that I had bought a replacement window that I have to fit to the side panel

And I hope that the picture came out okay, but here is the reason for the window replacement, the window has a crack in it and it can be seen when the panel is on the case.

This will be used for lettering that will be used near the end of the build. It is 12 Inches x 24 inches. And the product name is 3M Di Noc Black Carbon Fiber Film.

Lighting will not be the main focal point of the build as the case is modded, but this I think will add just enough for this theme and is BitFenix light strip that so happens to be water proof and I did not look for it to be, but that is how I found it and if water cooling is added later on then it may not be a bad idea ?

In part 4 video I show a side panel from a Lian Li case and this picture shows the pieces that my neighbor had a friend take to a machine shop and for $10.00 stamped out what you see from that Lian Li side panel. And after a fair amount of measuring and double checking and measuring again Sammie360 and I got the fan mounting marks worked out to where the fans will get mounted. And my neighbor that I have meantioned in other videos, took these pieces with the 120mm hole saw to the same shop, this way it gets drilled out properly with a drill press that I wish I still had.

A little break away from the build and show what will end up in and with this Rig once completed I even give Lutro0 of LC customs a plug and should have talked with him first. But this is how we learn.

And this is the second part of the above video, I tried to keep the videos 15 min or just under, so the viewers are not made to watch very long videos, and I put in a short update to the build work log.

In this video I try my best to explain what the idea and plan is, as well as show the Lian Li side panel all marked out for the size that is needed as shown in the picture of Post #5

And I ended up going with the BitFenix fans as pictured below. These fans will be for the top front and back

Most who know about this case, know that the case was made with a fan controller and thermal monitor, it's been so long since I got this case that I don't even think I have any of the paper work that came with it, but I do make mention in one of the videos of the factory installed fan controller and thermal monitor. But I really don't remember all the details of it, anyway it was removed and never going to be put back, because I bought a Fan Controller that also has 6 thermal probes, but there is one thing that I just noticed on it. If you look at the face carefully you can see there what looks like a white spot on it, it is in fact either a defect when the face plate was anodized, or one of us could have nicked it and can't say for sure, because it has been taken from the box three times. So as I sat and thought about maybe getting it RMAed, but I can't say for sure that it was like that the day I got it, well I don't remember it being as it is in the picture, so I was brain stroming and thought that as long as it is working properly, I will take the face plate off and paint it the same color as the case will be painted, then tape everything off and just paint the grooves Black.

And I figured that I would add the other pictures of it that I took.
