Title says pretty much all. Funny thing is the noise only appears when dragging a zoomed photo blinksmiley.gif.
The noise is similar to this:

Does anybody know why is it produced and if this problem is software related or should I RMA it?

its due to spoils vibrate in a frequency that we hear, sometimes it goes away after a few weeks.
often a combination of hardware like PSU/card makes it.

Now, it also produces the sound while gaming. Basically, it sounds when there's load.
I'm having problems with games too. Every minute of so, it lags to less than 1 fps for 6-8 seconds mad.gif. Even Windows asked me twice if I wanted to change the colour configuration and disable Aero "because I had not enough performance"
I'm gonna return it back and get a new one.

My card has coil whine as well but it doesn't bother me since I play with speakers on or with a headset. If you want to return it for that, it's up to you.

As for your other problem, it would help if you had specs in your sig.

What drivers are you using? Did you properly remove your previous drivers? Are you checking to see whether or not your GPU is at 100% load while gaming? Is it running at 3d clocks while gaming? Temps?

You need to give us more info so we can help you isolate the problem.

3770k stock, Maximus V Formula, 2x4GB GSkill Ripjaws 2400@1600, Sapphire 7970 stock, Intel SSD 520 240GB, Ikonik Vulcan 1000W
Clean installation, 1 day old. New drivers (12.4).
It runs 3D clocks while gaming but when the fps drop happens, the Afterburner G15 app says it is at 0% GPU load. Temps are OK, 60°C max
Hope this helps to isolate the problem thumb.gif. Thanks for your help.

My coil whine went away or at least decreased in sound enough to where I can't hear it.

How'd you manage that? I tried running Heaven for 8+ hours every day for 3 days but the sound remained frown.gif

I had the same thing happen when I was maxing out my older psu, once I upgraded the psu so that it stays below 60% of usage on the psu it went away ( this may or may not be your case just my 2cents.gif )

Edit: I would start by replacing that Ikonik Vulcan 1000W with a quality seasonic, corsair, antec, enermax ~750w unit.
