Terrible Coil Whine on brand NEW Sapphire HD 7970 - Page 2

The only coil whine I've had on my 6950 was in a very specific point on the map in Borderlands, other than that I've had none. It's quite odd really.

If I were you I'd just send the card back cause of excessive Coil Whine.

Edit: I would start by replacing that Ikonik Vulcan 1000W with a quality seasonic, corsair, antec, enermax ~750w unit.
Thanks for the advice. I've already thought about doing that, but back in 2009 when I bought the PSU, the Ikonik worked flawlessly in terms of ripple in the reviews. It's just a bit noisier than usual, only 80+ Bronze and only half modular but it works like a beast.
