Paging File Consensus

Thread Starter
I have disabled paging file on my SSD (128gb samsung 830) because it is the only hd I have on my system and I need the 8gb extra space it takes. I haven't had any real problems when I disabled it. Do I need paging file and is it safe to turn it off is my question here?

It's usually safe to disable it, unless you run out of ram - then it isn't. There are a couple of applications that wont run without one but they're becoming pretty rare. You could reduce it to 1 or 2 gigs.

Turn it on or you will eventually have to reinstall windows when it corrupts. I have 120 Agility 3 with 2gb pagefile but you can set yours to less like 1gb. But trust me leave it on , ive owned 7 SSD's and everytime i disabled pagefile the OS corrupted sooner or later.

I will set it to 1gb then just incase. I guess that would be enough? What will hapen if the memmory exceeds it's limits and I don't have pagin file or not enough pagin file?
Do I set it to initial size 1000mb and maximum size 1000mb and the it would be 1gb of paging file?

Yes, if you want to know how much your using grab Pagefile Monitor, load up your system (as much apps open as your likely to) and see how much is used, that's the best idea of how large to set it. If you run out of RAM+Pagefile then applications will close or crash (Windows may crash also).

I usually have mine disabled or set to 512MB min/max. It depends on what I am doing.

I'd say just set it to 400MB-1GB normally.
