So I took apart my Ps3 and reapplied thermal paste. Was it the right thing to do?

I did it for that because it would feel really hot FTPing and now it does not. Was quite the experience to take it apart like that.

Well it did but I did not have some hooked up right because it would YLOD and I was like oh crap! Come to find out I did not hook the power cables in all the way. thumb.gif

I see no reason why not. Yours is surprisingly clean there. Mine was absolutely caked on when I redid it.

Yeah it was on the blocks but I cleaned them before I took the pic of the heat sinks. Seems to be cooler after adding new thermal paste, my ps3 is a CECHE01 80 BC from 2007 thought it would like some thing fresh. biggrin.gif

Yeah, I hit about the same results for a bit. Started sounding like a jet engine the past month or two though, I think a fan bearing is going out finally. GG $30 replacement I can't be bothered with currently.

Hmm what blade fan do you have? Also I guess there is a PSU that uses less power and creates less heat.

The last PS3 I reflowed i had huge amounts of paste like not only was it over flowing from the heat sink it was all over the mother board too. The messed up part was it was completely factory sealed and the first time it had ever been disassembled. suffice to say the tech I was working with an I has pretty good laugh.
