DPI scaling is crap, so I prefer pixel quality than pixel quantity too.

Im all for crisper, but it doesn't make a lot of sense business wise. There is absolutely no REAL benefit on such a high res on such a small screen. Apple used the Retina screen purely as a selling point, and they know that. "Resolution"
An easy way for them to tack 1k on a screen. A Desktop monitor may be a different story, because you can actually see what the hell you are looking at.

I did the same. At 3 feet, there isn't much difference, but who uses a laptop 3 feet away. It's more like 1.5 feet when I'm using a laptop, and I saw a huge difference.

Thanks, your link only supported my statement. Even 7 had it before Apple.

But, developers outside of microsoft that don't develop for this is outside of microsofts control. Go figure eh?

Didn't read the full article but I heard OSX was having a bit of trouble with the higher resolution, let's see if Metro can handle it better.

Retina Display for PC -did apple already patented high res displays? as fair as i know, retina display is just a fancy name for a high resolution or high pixel density display,
do we really have to call those displays as a RETINA DISPLAY?

retina display coming to PC? are you telling me that the high resolution displays can only be used with macs?

It's just marketing, a lot of people would've clicked on this article because of that phrase. 'High resolution displays' are less searched than 'Retina display'.

but if you'll look through the threads here you'll find that w7 wasn't dealing with it well.

"Since the standard Windows desktop doesn’t support integer DPI scaling (see update below as you can force 2.0x scaling) Apple picked the next best option and configures Windows for 1.5x DPI scaling and 2880 x 1800 as the defaults".

Because you normally stay 3 feet away from your laptop screen.rolleyes.gif

There is a big difference. I have gone to high resolution displays and I would never go back.
