need suggestions for first watercooling - Page 3

post #21 of 38
Most radiator inlet and outlet are on the same side.

For pump, a D5 on P4 or dual D5 on P3 if you want redundancy.

I would suggest using a fan controller instead of motherboard headers.

Case I have already the NZTX switch 180 Special GUN metal thumb.gif
my question
I would like to keep in black with minmal red colour.
What would be the ideal loop. Considering water cooling for CPU, GPU and motherboard ( this one has already fittings).
I was thinking of a 360 push pull on top, and 240 on bottom?. What will go on the back?
I don't want to go to expensive, around 500 euro. Maybe a bit more.
I have been looking around here on the forums ( also the one for the NZTX Switch 180). But I don,t know where to start.
System most be possible to left allone ( switched of for 4 weeks). Which tubing and plating fluid is the best for this? Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
If possibe I will go for a fancy reservoir, but primary reason for wc is to reduce overclock temps, and noise reduction.redface.gif

If you can get a Durelene Tubing you going to make a big step ahead in your loop.
Reason : wont cloud bad as the other brand and it does look good whjen it used more you can find more info in my SIG about Plasticizer Problem and i have been testing and dealing with this issue for about 3 months and i do have a very good result with Durelene

Fluid : you can get a cheap Distilled water at your local store or Mayhems Products such as Dye Premix coolant and much more this is the best product in terms of fluid in the market and Mick ( Mayhems ) has give us a lot support in our community . you cannot go wrong with it. visite the Plasticizer Problem Thread you don't need to read till the end of the last page but read as much as you can this way you what you dealing with it. i did some Mayhems review too right below my Avatar take a look a read a bit that too its really going to help. and Welcome to the Water word. thumb.gif

how about a mcp-35x with reservoir, this will save me some connections, has pwm, but most important will it be strong enough?confused.gif

thanks will start using Durelene after reading your thread, not sure yet if I will/want/dare to go with a colour, maybe I will stick with ultra pure h20 mayhem and a killcoil.

MCP35X is a fantastic pump, and you don't have to buy the Swiftech reservoir. You can do what I am doing and just get a male-male coupler fitting and mount the pump directly to the EK reservoir. The Bitspower Rotary Male to Male Coupler is what I got for this purpose and I am very pleased with the quality, and I love that the pump can be "aimed". You can also get an extension fitting if you want more space between the two.

MCP 35X:
* more pressure than D5
* more flow than D5
* dumps heat into air, not water (so you need air flow across it to keep it cool)
* can be noisier than D5

I'm not sure about the "with reservoir" part. You usually have to get creative in order to mute the pump sound when attached to a reservoir since the reservoir has to be mounted. Ask around though, as I'm sure someone has found a good way to silence the 35X while attached to a res.

think I will use the pump, but with a loose reservoir, I have seen some problems, like air bubles etc. Many thanks for your advise!thumb.gif

darlene is correct, the res should always be inline of the pump, thsis assures coolant is avalable to the
pump on start-up.

you have way too much line cross-over. as said, the GPU heat can be the hottest, so the 360 is in a good
position, but from there it is chaos. res>pump>GPU>350 RAD>CPU>MOSFET>240 RAD>res preferred or
res>pump>GPU>350 RAD>MOSFET>CPU>240 RAD>res just keep the tubing from corssing one another.
you still want it to look nice and onlooker to see what is under all the tubing, as well.

you are using the cross-flow on the 360, the dual pass would be better, less tubing and more direct in hose.

how about this;

res>pump>GPU>350 RAD>MOSFET>CPU>240 RAD

if I do cpu>mosfet there will crossing.... asus preferred entering point of cooling water on maximus V formula board.
I have to see in real time, maybe it's possible without crossing cpu>mosfet Then I will do this:thumb:

Thanks!
