As much as I respect your thoughts Ken I think I am going to RMA. I just tried Heaven again with the RC11 and reinstalled Heaven and everything and I had the same Artifacts, terrible screen tearing when panning up or down, and it actually crashed my computer. Had to hit reset button like 10x on my case to get it to work. It would just make me feel a little better knowing they test it. And 7,000,000 errors kinda flags something I would think?

NEW VIDEO! Shows both tests with RC11 and 12.6, would mean a lot if you watched and lemme know.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSCeKI3cxow

^Full 1080p version available.

I am about 80% sure I will still RMA my card. Please check post #88/90 for the memory test that showed 7,000,000 errors if someone can explain that.
Here's what the card is looking like so far:

RC11 Drivers:
- Makes Vegas pro 11 GPU acceleration work! Though still have color glitch where if settings are set to "BEST - FULL" or "GOOD - FULL" on 32 bit color range full/video. Then it will continuously flash to black and white while it's playing. May just be software glitch.
- Terrible Screen tearing
Heaven Related
- 2 random white flashes
Same 3 Artifacts brand new heaven install

12.6/7 Drivers:
-Vegas pro 11 crashes when GPU accelerating.
-Fixes screen tearing.
-Increased overall smoothness of Heaven and general use. Slight FPS increase.
Heaven: Same 3 artifacts brand new heaven install

The artifacts are 100% specific to Heaven. I will play BF3 on max since that is probably the most taxing for like 5 hours and let you know if I notice anything but honestly Heaven is the first time I ever had to look up even what a Artifact was. Never seen them anytime I played any other game. But again, I don't play games that much.

Both: Crazy 7 million errors on that one test, though the other one is showing 0 (Please see post 88/90 I really need someone to explain this or test it themselves.)

Might try to meet somewhere in the middle light 12.4 though that gave me 1 screen tear that was unbelievably bad. But ill try a few out and see if I get can VP11 to work on a old one that doesn't bring the screen tears with it.

So it's basically pick your poison lol. This is going to be one of my final posts. I have had so much help from you guys and I say Thank You to each person who replied. I say final since I really should let this post die down a little, least I feel that way since over like 80 posts are people helping just me. Though I hope it can help someone else with any issues as well. I don't want this to get to the point someone replies "You have 10 pages of answers!" kinda stuff haha. Unfortunately even now I am stuck about 50/50 between RMA'ing it or not. The perfectionist in me says "Even if these people's points are valid that there are just minor errors such as the 3 artifacts, RMA'ing couldn't hurt unless I get a worse card" While at the same time I don't want to have to go through RMA process if unneeded. There have been very valid points for both sides.

Next reply will be sometime tomorrow night after I play some BF3 for a good while biggrin.gif This time ill be specifically looking for any errors.

try the official 12.4 drivers and see if that clears anything up.

I have a XFX 7950 DD Black Edition arriving this afternoon, I will install the 12.4 drivers and run heaven on a loop for an hour to see if I have the same problems. I already had to return a HIS IceQ 7950 for having blue and gray lines all over the screen on startup. From what I've been reading the 7900 cards have alot of issues with their memory, I have my fingers crossed for my new card. I ordered through amazon so if its defective they will take it back, no questions asked biggrin.gif

Well I will have to play a lot of BF3 today and test it but after looking at about 5-9 videos of Heaven benchmarking. I have noticed the exact same 3 artifacts. :/ Coincidence? It literally looks the exact same. They were in about 6 of the 9 videos I saw. I think it's a glitch with heaven. Feel free to look at my video and others with 7970's if you wish you see it for yourself. So all in all:

Overall problems:
[Fixed]5/12/2012: Screen Tearing - Fixed with 12.6 drivers.
[Fixed]6/2/2012: Tribes is only game that crashes - Hasn't crashed since wiped my old drivers. Will test more today. 1/2 fixed I would say.
[Fixed]6/20/2012: VP11 GPU Acceleration crash - Fixed with RC11 Drivers. Might try a balance between the RC11 and 12.6 to find which works with VP11 but doesn't come with the screen tears of RC11.
[Fixed]7/15/2012: Overscan levels wouldn't stay - Stays when I restart it now. Even without the new regedit command: DefaultHDTVUnderscan thing.
[Not Fixed]7/25/2012: Gatget not recognizing the GPU - Still doesn't recognize it :/ but who cares? Every other program does. I don't use gadgets anymore anyways.
[Fixed]7/27/2012: This has only happened twice, I have no idea what it was/is. It has never happened since I wiped the drivers.

So to be honest. My problems are gone Thanks to you guys! smile.gif
I am still going to do the BF3 Stress Test playing through the campaign so I can focus on glitches, the temp, and overall stability rather than actually playing online. It's kinda hard to type this next statement since I have had I think 4-6 people tell me I should RMA it, while only 2 I think said there is no need, but I don't think I will if the BF3 results come back good. I mean the setup is good as is. Voltage is great, Temps are great (max I got this thing is 56deg playing Heaven for 1 hour max settings, or tribes for like 5 hours, probably can get it higher but I have yet to see it), everything seems to be working fine with the card. The one stress test came back with 0 errors, while somehow the other one has like 7,000,000? That still concerns me but idk *** happened there. I don't really trust either memtest, wish I could use OCCT frown.gif

Still any good GPU memory test for a AMD/ATI card would be MUCH appreciated!

So which drivers did you end up using?

Right now I am still on the 12.6. I will have to try out the 12.4 again to see if that one meets the checklist:

- No screen tears
- Works with VP11 GPU acceleration

But at the moment I have only gotten 1 of the two to work.

Ill letcha know before I jump into BF3 for the day.

Looks like I have to stick with the 12.6. Any driver before this one gives me terrible screen tearing on my HDTV and too far back (i.e. RC11) gives it to me on my monitor as well. I've tried now:
12.7
12.6
---- Screen Tears ---
12.4
12.3
RC11

Might try some other 11.somthing and see if it works. Otherwise Ill just live without VP11 working right and wait for a update on Sony's end to get it working.

EDIT: Confirmed. Anything below 12.6 I get the same screen tear. Ill use 12.7 for now and hope 12.8 or whatever is next somehow works with vegas pro 11.

Unfortunately I have had 2 XFX cards fail on myself and both RMA experiences were absolutely horrible, as described a few pages back. So hopefully the OP has a better experience and gets it resolved.
