Well all i can say is ALOT.

THE 8800gtx Is around the $600-700 Price mark.
The Cpu will be around $900 most likely.
Around $1600, maybe down to like $1400 after 1 month past release. These estimates are rounded DOWN. I very much expect it to be a little more than these prices.

Quad Core CPU: Around 1,000 for the QX6700...and a bit less (like $850) for the 6600 version (due in Q1 2007 I think). From what I have heard, there are no initial plans for 'Allandale' based versions... After a while they might drop to like $750 for the cheaper one, but I don't expect less than that.

The 8800GTX... around $650 I guess.
Why not a 8800GTS, which will be around $475 or so.

It will be a stupidly expensive upgrade IMO. Quad Core wont be taken advantage of for a while as most Apps and games out today arnt even coded to use /take advantage of Dual core.

Agreed... but then again... who does not like stupidly expensive upgrades (on the other hand, who has the money for them )

It will become interesting when games are coded to use the multiple cores, like one core for Physics, etc.

Well im looking forward to games taking advantage of multiple cored. However they have to Code them to Dual core before they can move on to Quad. It will be a while yet before such things happen.

However theres nothing to say you cant assign program Affinities to other cores on a quad core making multitasking easier however i cant justify that price really.

Honestly, I have a feeling they'll just skip over dual core..

Intel already had a demo with a game that used one core for Physics, and the other three cores for other stuff... There is a thread about that here somewhere

Well that would be most likely. Lets face it they need to make Quad core look good to get people to buy them at such a price. Dual core has been out a while and has lived out its '' OMG WOW'' aspect lol.

even if u do deside 2 get a quad core their is probably no point in getting it, duo cores will be able 2 play any game out their for a while bro i mean prolly atleast another year.. mayb more? ^^
