Hey OC! So I have myself an old dv2 laptop, specs are here - link

besides fitting it in the laptop body if they are layed out differently what other problems might I expect to run into?

A few that I can think of (based on working on two identical (from the outside) MacBook's but with different hardware, one being a newer generation)

I could be dramatising... :/
  • Ports could be in different places to the case
  • New mobo could have different connectors/headers for display, battery, optical disk drive, etc
  • New CPU & GPU could be in different locations on the board and require different heatsink(s)
  • Mounting holes could be in different places on the new mobo compared to the case
  • RAM could be offset or in different location and not line up with current RAM door
