200mm vs 240mm RAD

How does the best 200mm radiator out there stack up against my 240mm GTX 240? Factoring in availability of fans in that size?

A 200mm radiator has almost the same amount of frontal surface area as a 3x120mm fan. So if you can fit one I would go that route. You can pair it w/ a Silverstone AP181 180mm fan.

But if you go by fan surface area, a 3x120mm has ~34,000mm^2 area, while a 200mm with a 180mm fan has only 25,400mm^2 of area. That would make a big difference.

Why a 180mm fan and not like a NZXT 200mm high performance fan? A 200mm fan should move more air with less noise compared to a 180. Plus the 180 wouldn't mate up with the edge of the rad, should the some of the air would blow out sideways.

but how good is the best 200mm rad vs my GTX240, sure it might have more raw surface area but not all radiators are created equal and i dont believe there are that many 200mm ones to choose from?

Generally the Silverstone 180mm fans are regarded as higher quality fans w/ great static pressure.

As far as I know, the phobya 200 rad is great and it matches the performance of some 360 rads.

Ok, thanks all. as much as i was looking to avoid buying a new radiator it looks like the 200mm will be the better route.
