headphone for Trance,house,techno music - Page 2

get used dt770 pro 80 ohm headphones. I think someone was selling them in the marketplace here on ocn.
Well, I didn't mean for them to come off as bad headphones, they certainly aren't. They are however highly specialized headphones, I feel. Which, what threw me for a loop, most of the stuff you read on the AD700 is people praising them for being so great. Which that in itself, threw up a flag for me. Proper reviews or information needs to have both sides of the coin. It was just so much positive, it seems everyone looking into new headphones gets sucked into them, cause that's all you hear about. While I was aware the low end would be weak, tons of people where saying how the low end was good enough and the headphones are so great. I just feel overall, the proper information on them is hard to get to. Simply because it's a lot of people crazy over them, throwing them around as a recommendation for everything.

Despite hearing the low end is lacking, not many ever really slam them for it. You just come out feeling like, well ok the low end will be weak but it must be good enough because everyone is going crazy. In my opinion, the AD700 should not be recommended to someone buying a single pair of headphones for general use. Even if you don't listen to trance, for general purpose, low end is to important across many areas to use the AD700s in general. And that's something I was never told or read.

I don't have much experience with headphones, I just recently dropped the gaming headsets and started learning. Just wanted to get some info out there to the OP so he/she wouldn't feel so hung up on the AD700s over all the hype. You seem very passionate about audio from what I've read around here, you also posted in my thread awhile back. So I'm sure you're giving the OP sound advice. I was just in their shoes not long ago and wanted to give my input. Whether you buy the SR850 or something better as Simca has suggested, if its going to be general use headphones and you'll only buy one, I would stay away from the AD700.

Sucks that you got sucked into buying the ad700s. I never give the ad700 recommendation to anyone that isn't looking for a gaming only headphone. I have stressed more than anyone else that the bass on the ad700s is so very lacking (I'm quoted as saying it's non-existent basically).

I always argue with people that feel the bass on them is ok or with an amp is good. You can add leather pads, amp it and tape the grates closed but it's still not going to have good bass.

Kind of excited to see what I'll buy next, honestly. I'm assuming to get the soundstage of the AD700s with a nice low end, is something only the really high end headphones offer. Or it might not even exist, most audiophiles seem to own multiple headphones, maybe that's the only way. lol

The funniest thing out of all of this though was the look on my friends face when we compared his $300 Astro A50s to my $55 Samson SR850s. Poor guy, its hard to swallow when you realize just how much money you got taken for.

Anyway don't want to get to OT with this. Good luck with your purchase OP and just really do your research and don't stick to only OCN.

Guitar Center routinely has Sennheiser HD280s on sale -- worth a look. I have a pair that I use when playing bass late at night, and I use them to game as my 595s don't seem to have as much low-end kick (but they are better for music, undoubtedly).
