thread title says it all. yay or ney?. from where I'm from I can't get any other card btw. only the palit gtx 680 2gb jetstream is currently available

EDIT:
is there anything I should know about this particular model. palit gtx 680 jetstream cooler? I've read some coolers like the Double D's by xfx has hotter vrm temps. are there similar issues like this with the jetstream cooler? I've been searching the forums so far I haven't found anything

I say go for it.

480 SLI is great and still an absolute beast combo, actually kind of miss mine. But the 680 IMO would be smoother, quieter, and use way less power.

I have no regrets selling my 480s for my 670...

Just don't expect to be blown away or anything with benchmark comparisons or anything, will be about the same.

Hmm, my room is like 35 degrees right now and it's less than 20 outside. All I was playing is league of legends.
I'll pass on voting but if you're paying the bills or you'd like a colder room then the 680 would be a great choice.

I'm not just saying this to knock the 480s, they're fantastic cards and will play just about anything maxed out but they'll heat your room like no other cards.

If you're in the Philippines then you've either got pretty decent air conditioning or it must be extremely hot in your PC room. Because of that I think I'd get the 680 in your position if money isn't a problem.

Edit: Actually I'm gonna vote 680. But it won't improve performance, maybe minimum FPS a little but bench scores might even go down.

Performance wise, it would be a downgrade. The GTX 680 challenges the GTX 480 SLI in several cases, but doesn't exceed it significantly in most cases (if not any). However, with less power consumption, less heat, less noise, and much more, it seems like a nice "upgrade" if you want a more efficient card.

^this. even with AC my room heats up quite a bit. summer just ended here. my room even with AC last summer feels literally like a sauna when I game lol. power consumption isn't a biggie tbh(my computer doesn't really impact my electric bill too much. not really expecting a massive increase in performance neither. even my gpu temps are decent. I just want my room to stay cool

if you want a reduction in heat , power and noise definitely go for the GTX 680. But don't expect similar performance. GTX 680 would be slower than GTX 480 SLI.

Ive always thought a gtx680 would be just as fast if not faster than my two 480's. how much performance decrease should I expect?

oh yea I think I should mention this. I have my two 480's like this atm (no space separating the two cards)
been like this since I changed my motherboard

I'm always at stock now. overclocking isn't possible because it's fairly humid here in manila and the top card would get too hot

Didn't you want to get rid of these for like a single 580 at one point as well? I swear I remember a similar thread...anyway as long as you're okay with the heat and noise I'd keep the 480s. If not then the 680 is obviously the better choice (albeit less in the performance category).
