3570k Safe Temperature

Thread Starter
I just upgraded from a Phenom X4 965 BE to an Ivy Bridge 3570K and noticed my idle temps are around 5 celsius higher. I know the Phenom chips experience degradation above 62 Celsius, but what is the caution temperature for the 3570K?

I'm running at stock currently and have idle temps that fluctuate between 34C to 46C.

Thanks.

Those are pretty normal in my opinion. My 3570k usually hangs out around 28-37C idling and gets around 65C under full load with the stock fan. I run it at 4.3Ghz as well. I think you are fine. You could try turning up the cpu fan speed if you are using the stock cooler and see if that helps. I think max temp for the cpu is around 105C or so.

It's hard to speculate temps without knowing your ambient temp (Room temp..)

I keep my house, and specifically my gaming room at a warmer than usual, 78-80 degrees F, in Arizona I'd go broke trying to keep it at 68 like some people do. My 3570K with 212 evo cooler at 4.5 idles at 25-30C, and full load won't break 73C. TJ max for the ivybridge is 105, and a lot of people run them right up to it; Though most don't like to go beyond 85c for fear of chip degradation.

What paste did you use, and how is your case for airflow? Cable management decent? all of this can effect your ability to keep your cooler with fresh air running across it. Though, it's a lost cause if your house sits at 90-100 degrees F all day.

Intel chips run much hotter than Amd ones. so don't be worried. On stock clocks with the stock fan it runs at about 66c on load. I'd say up to 85c is goos. Even up to a max of 90c. Quite a difference coming from 62c being the max and keeping temps within the 55c range;). Try increasing airflow in your case. That could do wonders!

Thanks.

stock cooler ?? that's a bit high compare to mine. my highest temp at idle is around 38c, lowest is 17c.

I'm running with the CM Hyper 212+ and it's been really hot here lately so my house is around 78-80 degrees. Now that it's cooled down outside my temps are down to 31-35 which is nice.

My question was more in regards to what the safe temps are, not necessarily how abnormally high my temps are.

Thanks fellas!

According to Intel..It's 67.6c
Which is less than Sandy Bridge's 72.6
Eh..I bet most people on here ignore that :lachen.gif:
Most say it's OK up to 80..but I'm skeptical of that.

80c won't kill your chip nor will it harm it. It's about getting stable overclocks. At those temps while stress testing the overclock may fail during p95. It's all about that otherwise nothing to worry about.thumb.gif

What temp is supposed to be 67.6C?
