Opteron 180 + Bottleneck ? - Page 3

That's a lot of money to invest in outdated technology. I think this would have been a chance to go AM2, or Core 2 Duo.

Also, you will run into performance issues with those four sticks of RAM you have... The AMD on-die memory controller does not like it, and will knock the RAM speed down to 2T.

I would have seriously considered Core 2 Duo... the E6300 is £125.48 (+ shipping) on Scan, so you would have saved £75 on the CPU.... motherboard and selling/buying RAM probably will offset that, but I think in the end the investment would not have beem much more.

Well Something i would like to make clear to people im No computer fanatic...As in to say I dont care too much about being knocked down to 2T. Im not even Overclocking until I have to. Plus it may be named Outdated but IMO its not...It does everything i need....Dual Core...64bit...Its all I want. Conroe cant offer me any more than the Opteron 180 can in this respect.

Cheers.

Lmao Cheers Chozart.

Yes i will Admit perhaps i Spent too much money but for me it will do what i need and Conroe is just that little bit more expensive and doesnt offer me leaps and bounds better if you get me.

And lets face it guys that Opteron 180 will destroy my current CPU.
