How much?

Thread Starter
I'm in the market for a new Power Supply and I want to know what power I need. I have narrowed down to AX750 or AX850. I have my CPU overclocked and I want to make sure it has enough power for OC. I also plan on going 2 GPU SLI soon and go water if that has anything to do with power supplies. So which one would I need?

I was planning to pick up one 670 or 680 soon, but I'll get the second one when it gets cheaper so in a long time. I still want to have the flexibility to get a SLI whether now or in 2 years.

Then the AX 750 would be plenty, in fact even the AX 650 will easily do.

How much would 650 be able to handle? I was reading and the GPUs need like 400WATT for a card. How can 650 be enough for 2 cards?

The only cards currently in production that do require close to 400W are the dual GPU ones (690 for example).
The only single GPU card that could pull that kind of power under anything less than sub-zero cooling is the GTX 480, and I doubt you're looking into buying a pair of those. smile.gif

The 670 is a ~170W card while the 680 is a ~200W one.

Oh ok, yea I still had the tab open and it was a dual-GPU. Ok thanks. So, 750 should be enough for 90% of possible upgrades that are only dual SLI?

Ok thanks, I'll be picking one up next week. Hopefully the price goes down a bit, but it's fine since it'll finally make my case look decent.
