It means I have to retest that block. The software doesn't let you save your setup, so every time you have to go and click the right settings. Sometimes it's definitely me forgetting to do something, sometimes I wonder if there's a bug that screws it up when you lose all 5 tests in a row.

Thanks! Made it up the mountain (highest in the 48 states) and down again. My wife even made it with her busted knee!

Did you go with Jim from CaseLabs?

I've not been there before, worth the hike?
Not to be a Negative Nancy, but I wouldn't expect to see the first round of results posted until Saturday or Sunday. The sheer volume of blocks being tested, the issues that came up like over writing data on multiple tests, and the fact that Stren has a busy and active life away from OCN (as we all should), have led me to this conclusion.

I, like many others, have been waiting for these results to order the components for my next build which just so happens to be my first water cooled build. While I'm still waiting to see the results, I decided that it wasn't worth holding everything up because of this and have started ordering the rest of my components so I can get them test fitted and I will order my CPU block last with a separate order. Considering the general consensus that the top blocks are only 1C-1.5C from each other I don't think anyone could really go "wrong" with any of them.

Please don't take what I have said as being negative, in fact I believe I'm being very understanding as we all should considering the magnitude of a test like this coupled with having a family and a private life. The guy just got back home from climbing the highest mountain in the US; I'm sure there are a couple of things he needs to or wants to do first.

My prediction on the tests?

#1 Overall DT Direct 2011
#2 XSPC Raystorm or EK Supremacy with Indigo Xtreme
#3 Swiftech Apogee HD with MX2

But I'll admit that I don't really know a whole lot besides what I've picked up from OCN and that I've never built a water cooled system.

No - why was he planning a trip there too? It's a tough hike I wouldn't recommend doing it in a day unless you're super fit. We took it slow so that the altitude wasn't such a big deal as my wife didn't have much time to train this summer. The summit isn't the prettiest and there's so often cloud up there that I think most people climb it just because it's the tallest in the US48. The views from trail crest were pretty awesome though. It's not something that I feel like I'd want to climb again unlike Yosemite where I feel like I could go back many many times.

Yeah there is some truth in that many blocks have similar performance and that changing TIM or increasing flow can sometimes have more of a difference than changing to the "best" block. It's not true for everyone though and it's often hard to predict. For those who want the best performance out of their system you often have to have the capability to run tests like this yourself. I'll try to publish with both the Heatkiller and the direct block before I leave on Monday, hopefully nothing comes up to change that thumb.gif

You're pretty well right-- but just having all the pictures up in a convenient place made it easier to choose a block. When in doubt, go with the prettiest one right?

Lost a bunch of time yesterday when the board wouldn't turn on, but it did finally turn on last thing last night so I'm now running test 3/5 on the watercool heatkiller. Hopefully done with that tonight and on to the DT Direct tomorrow! Progress is being made thumb.gif
