32GB Samsung Ram (8x4GB Sticks) can't get passed 1600Mhz on Rampage IV extreme - Page 2

TechPowerup used the P9X79 Deluxe when reviewing the Samsung 30nm kit:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Samsung/MV-3V4G3/4.html

With this ram, its all in the tRFC timing (Dram ref Cycle time)...

Oohh ooo. Ericeod.....back to the BIOS for me to check my DRAM ref Cycle time. Thanks for the PICs,

OK changed the timing exactly like Techpowerups:

Going for a 2133Mhz OC fingers crossed.....prime'ing....no dice...redface.gif

Timing were tightish for this RAM at 11-11-11-28, I'll slack'en off alittle to 11-12-12-30 2T and try again...

Na still no good...I had a quick look at the overclocking section of the article which had the following secondary RAM timings

I tried these to, but no good at 2166Mhz unstable in only 60 seconds of prime'ing. Not much increase in performance either

I'm going to drop back down to 1866Mhz and see if I can get tighter primary timing with these secondary timing's...

I couldn't manage 2133 and settled at 1866. That might be the sacrafice when running 8 modules. Good luck!

Cheers! Yep sign me up for the 1866Mhz club. I'm sticking with 1866Mhz managed to tighten the timing a little to 10-10-10-28 1T.

It appears going to command rate 2 or the secondary timings shown above are both stable at very similar performance, hope this thread will help anybody else OC there 32GB of Samsung 30nm RAM. Thanks for all the help on this thread.

Next OC my GTX 670x currently got the GPU clock offset to 151Mhz+ stable'ish, going to OC the Mem Clock next what an excellent guide by SeanPoe for doing this thumb.gif

Well said Eric. I might take it a step further and say 1866 might be the sacrifice when running SB-E on X79. I could manage 2133 (I only have 4x4 dimms) but the massive VTT and VCCSA to get it to even pass 30 minutes of prime was not worth it. I get the impression the 3930K does not like 2133 on the X79 one bit. I can see or tell the difference in real world stuff between 2133 @ CL11 and 1866 @ CL9. Although, I can sleep alot better knowing my VTT is 1.14 and VCCSA is 1.12. thumb.gif
