Some advice on new build...

Thread Starter
My current build is in my sig, it's entirely air cooled which I think is ok since it was a first build and I didn't want the complexity of water cooling. Also the air cooler it has cools the cpu just fine, and the gfx card is voltage locked so water cooling it wouldn't give me any performance gains.

But I'd like to kind of start a new build that is able to water cool a cpu and single gpu. I'm wanting to be able to buy a reference gtx685 or whatever it will be called (if it's voltage unlocked) and be able to just buy a water block for it and be good to go.

ATM I can purchase:

Corsaid 800D (i think a big case will help make it easier)
Swiftech pump (please recommend a powerful one)
etc

I'm ready to purchase the case and water cooling components now. I won't be watercooling my gtx680 but water-cooling the cpu i might as well, since it's preety beefy and won't bottleneck whatever flagship gfx card nvidea comes out with next. But I want a gpu loop ready to go so I need sufficient radiators etc.

Can you please recommend a list of items I need. I can do a build log which I always like to do and take photos. There must be some optimum way to set up an 800D for water cooling and i'm sure the experts here know what I need. Thanks for your advice. If all goes well then it'll be a 'new' build but completely ready to just install a new gfx card with gfx card water-block.

I like the look of this build:

but i dont need my ram cooled, and i'm a big proponent of only ever using a single gpu.

Since you will watercool your cpu,but you will add a gtx680 later(maybe),I suggest you the xspc raystorm rx360 kit.It has great performance and you can upgrade the kit in the future because it has a very good pump (mcp655).Here's a recent video review of the kit
Also,I personally don't like the 800d because you can only install a 360 on the top and a 120 on the back, without modding. There are some newer cases that they are more watercooling friendly.I have seen many people using nzxt switch 810,take a look on some build logs.
But if you like the looks of the 800d,I pass

In my quick research I do keep hearing about the mcp655 and It's available here. As for the switch 810, I like it but I want a case that I can keep for like 10 years, isn't the switch made of plastic?

Thanks for the video, if one rad is enough for cpu + gpu then seems like an easy solution.

There is actually very little plastic in the switch 810. It's almost entirely made of metal with a bit of the cosmetic stuff being made out of plastic.

OK then, looked at some reviews gonna go for a white switch 810 and the xspc raystorm rx360 kit. Gonna check out a few build logs before i decided what color tubing looks good in the white case, led lightening etc.

eh..seems like you're into looks>cooling..
but you could build a bong and free up a lot of room in your case..

Lol what? Firstly I don't smoke weed, lived in Holland for 5 years and didn't take a single hit. Secondly most people here who build rigs take some time and pride in how their rig looks. Thirdly the kit recommended which I said i'm looking to buy is supposed to cool VERY well.

Your post is idiotic.

He doesn't mean a bong used to smoke substances, he means a bong to cool your computer. It uses a large quantity of water and acts as an evaporation cooler to give you sub-ambient water temps. While using a bong isn't typically a good looking option (in my opinion) I've seen some people pull them off with great aesthetic quality.

Oh really, then I take back the idiotic comment. It's mainly gpu cooling that I care about, is one radiator enough for a cpu and gpu loop? Seen people using more than one rad in this case but they often have more than one gpu.
