1333mhz vs 1600mhz for Ivy Bridge/z77

Hello, i'm going to buy a GigabyteGA-Z77X-UD3H with the Intel 3770k cpu.

But in my current system i have 4x kvr1333d3n9/4g Kingston 1333mhz RAM with a total of 16GB.

When i put this ram in my Ivy Bridge setup with z77 chipset, will i have performance loss? Do i really need to upgrade to 1600mhz?

And will i have problems with this ram when i overclock my cpu? I'm only going to overclock the multiplier, not the fsb

1333 memory will make a slight difference to performance, not so much that you need to run out for faster memory though. That memory might even OC to 1600Mhz, either way it doesn't hurt to try it. Compare numbers to other members' & then see if an upgrade is needed or not.
It shouldn't make any difference to cpu overclocking, z77 might use 1600Mhz default mem speed so you might have to drop the mem multi in bios if the 1333 kit won't overclock to 1600.

Okay thanks for the info, i doubt i can overclock the memory to 1600 because it's Kingston Valueram without any heatsinks on it frown.gif

Heatsinks don't really make much difference unless it's way overvolted or in a really hot space, & ivy is pretty forgiving with memory overclocks. 1333 - 1600 really isn't much difference though.
