Benifit of SLI?

Thread Starter
Just stepped up recently to a 4400 X2 and was thinking of upgrading to SLI. Would I see a big benifit to make it worth while or should I just upgrade the single card that I have to a 7xxx series? I use this rig mostly for gaming, no real work done here

well, if you have enough money for a good SLi setup, you might as well wait for the G80s and spend the $500 on that.

I'd say go SLI now if you had a 7xxx series already, some of the games that are due soon will require quite a lot of power to look there best. I'm getting a 2nd 7900GT next week.

Although as you have a 6600GT i wouldn't recommend SLI'ing another. If you have the cash for a 7 series SLI setup then go for it, or wait for G80 and get a kick ass single GPU.

One single card of the 7 series will blow a 6600gt sli out the water. Go 7 series you wont regret it. I had a 6600gt before this, they dont even compare!!! i get an average of 100fps more. and everything is at stock

7 series IMO

I'm a big fan of sli as well. I had sli'd 6600GT's, 7800gt's 7800gtx and now 7900gtx. You give signifigant performance boost but I'd say ditch the 6600 for sure and get a pair of mid-range 7900 series or one higher end 7900 and get a second down the road when prices drop further.

What is your budget?

Getting 7600GTx2 isn't bad... But I'd rather just get a single strong card like a 7900GT
post #8 of 10
Thread Starter
The budget is not a real issue, I am looking for better video performance. I think the G80 is way overpriced for now, so SLI was starting to look better.

Trying to figure out if the benifits of SLI would make it worth spending the money.

If you love the benchies that's the best solution and higher resolutions that's the way to go.But you need a big monitor for those higher resolutions and a lot of money for the best monitor or lcd in the market.
