Need help/advice with ram timings

Thread Starter
New to overclocking ram. I have RAM oc'd from 1866 to 2040 right now.

I have never ever messed with timings and dont know where to start. I heard tighter timings yeild better performance. Tighter meaning smaller numbers im assuming?

I will have to reboot and look into bios to see what my timings are, they are on auto right now but ill check and see what they are.

My rig is in the sig.

I would like help trying to get tighter timings and get familiar with what it does and how it does it.

Well lets start out with what your memory timings are recommended at stock- what is the recommended voltage at stock?

First 4 numbers and command rate (1t or 2t)

Tried manual timings at 2040mhz and it wors fine.

If i change the first 9 to an 8 i get dr debug code 0x50 ( Memory Initialization Error. Invalid memory type or incompatible memory speed )

If i change the 10 to a 9 i get 3 beeps and doesnt post, forgot to look at what code it gave.

Is my memory sped too high to even tighten the timings??

For that frequency, your timings are ok. You could try 1T.

at the same speed, 9-9-9-20 and 8-8-8-18 might be 1FPS in a video game.

if that.

not really worth it unless you're on hwbot fighting for the last milliseconds on Super Pi biggrin.gif
