Weird boot

Thread Starter
I have recently encountered a problem. Everytime when I power up my computer, it immediately shuts itself down after a 2 or 3 seconds and then it powers up again and boots normally. I've noticed that this only happends if I remove the power plug from the wall or disconnect power to the computer anyway. It doesn't happen if I just shut my pc down and then power it up again even after a couple of hours if I don't remove the plug or turn the I/O switch to O.

My pc specs:

Asus Rampage IV Extreme
Intel 3930k @ 4.8Ghz
32GB G.Skill TridentX 2400
2 Corsair Force GT:s in raid 0
Sapphire Radeon HD 7970
Enermax MaxRevo 1200W

I really don't know what causes this. Could it be some loosen power connection or isn't the PSU powering all the components equally at the start. If someone has any suggestions I'd happily receive them.

I do, but I still don't understand why it only happends when I unplug the power. My PC was shut down for 10 hours today and a clean normal boot because I didn't remove the plug, but if I remove it for 2 seconds that weird thing happends.

Does it do the same thing if you turn your powersupply off by the switch?

Replace the cmos battery- probably wont make a difference
Sounds like a capacitor is wearing down because of overheating- so it doesnt charge fast enough on initial boot and restarts because power supply isnt verry clean on power delivery

Do you have any suggestions besides that cmos battery suggestion, which even I don't think it would fix it.

Even if it remains, does it have a negative effect on my PC if that happends sometimes. Could it weaken my components anyway or anything like that?

Actually, Asus boards are known for double booting. It fits your description perfectly. It only happens when you unplug it because, well you're taking away all of the power. Idk why this happens, but it does for me sometimes. Nothing you can really do tongue.gif
