Core i7 920 or FX8120? - Page 4

Thread Starter
The thing is: the FX-8120 is plenty fast for all single-core operations. The performance difference won't be noticeable. As for multithreaded, it beats the i7 920. I'm not seeing what the problem is.

That may be true but look at there base clocks, FX is almost 1.0ghz higher and only achieving 2 more fps.

For gaming I would use the i7 920, not the FX

i7 920
Mine is still keeping up well after 4 years of abuse and overclocks like crazy.
There's a very good chance I will be rocking it for another 2 years easy.

Do yourself the biggest favor and actually know what you are talking about before you post.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1284106/tr-as-promised-amd-posts-disappointing-financial-results/30_30#post_17762709

My 8120 at 1.5v never goes above 65c in a 71f shop. Bulldozer was concepted to beat nehalem and it does. Get over it. Why recommend a dead socket with no upgrade path.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1267362/amd-fx-8120-geforce-gtx-680-gaming-performance/0_30

SLI/CFX scaling is negligable between Nehalem and Bulldozer, with a northbridge speed of 2.8Ghz they are equal. Less than 1% of this elitist website alone uses multi-GPU, real world numbers are less than 0.01%. Totally useless. If you wanted to tote SLI/CFX numbers we would be talking Sandy or Ivy with multi-monitor before it even effects your wallet.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/47?vs=434

If you prefer Intel go ahead and say it. Because you are not providing any information to support your claim.

Nehalem is dead, there is no reason to spend money on it if building new.

Why would you even post that?
